Sadly, advertising is based upon the concept that you wish to feel like "the ideal" and hence you will purchase products that imply they can provide that result. Otherwise, why would you buy them?

Women, like men, come in all shapes and sizes. Individually, we all have preferences, some of which may be hardwired and some may be driven by marketing. Fortunately, most of us can find a "mate" if we are allowed to do so. Unfortunately, these things are often more about self than "mate."

I recall years ago reading about a woman who was considered exceptional because she actually had the perfect "size 2 figure." I'm not sure if that was the size, but it was something like that. The odd part was that the writer acknowledged that although she was very exceptional, her "measurements" were what was used for the size. So, if almost nobody is actually that size, why make things to those measurements? No one knows.

While men may not have the same pressures as women, it is equally true that we are told what shape we are supposed to be. And, surprise, almost none of us are.

Sad.
