You are not stronger than the moon
You stare into its perplexed white face as you follow it to the water
the gasping ocean pulls the sand out from under your feet
it wants you and you oblige
the waves get colder and higher and you turn just as blue
as you walk
great swells of liquid salt crest over your head
your eyes glow red and your tongue shrivels, sticks to the roof of your mouth
your lungs like raisins as youre sucked into the deep black seeping into your brain, silencing your frantic heart
the moon still shines as your motionless face-down form finds the surface
and bobs like driftwood, the waves heaving you sanded and weathered
back onto the beach
while your life rises to meet the mist curling around the beams of indifferent light
