the opposite of brain candy?
nope.
T.V.
it's back. like it is every fall...sigh.
i'm actually not doing that badly. there's less than 10 shows i watch. the shameful part is that most of them are reality shows. ouch.
what are they? what is this that has captured my imagination on the magic talking box in my living room? hmm?
1. beauty and the geek. i'm sorry, this show is great. especially if you have a thing for nerds. unfortunately, the EXTREMELY attractive geek got eliminated this week and the reverse gender beauty and geek stayed in. which, that dude is pretty, but he's real dumb. and annoying. actually, i only catch this when i Really think about it. which is rare.
2. the biggest loser. yup. i fucking love the biggest loser. and i ususally end up crying when they show 'what the eliminated player looks like today'. and then the whole finale i'm always a wreck. i think it helps (proabbly the wrong word) that there's such a strong history of obesity/diabetes/hyper-tension/heart problems/etc on my dad's side of the family. also gillian's back this year. she's like a cavewoman on speed (and i mean that in the best possible way).
3. america's next top model. oh shit, america's next top model. and i bet that this one, just as much as the biggest loser helps me get motivated to work out. i'm just saying.
4. kitchen nightmares. god bless gordon ramsey. he is the walking illustration of my theory that all reality programming is based on british people behaving badly. and he makes restaurants good. the onion says the british version is better - less shock valuey. which is unsurprising. but still. entertaining.
5. (and actually, this is the only important one) the office. no, i still haven't seen the british version. in fact, i still haven't seen the vast majority of the first, second and third seasons. doesn't matter. the show is brilliant. Brilliant. oh good sweet lord is it funny. 'take a chance on me'? ho-ly shit. so good. i'm a little obsessed with this one right now, actually...
so yes. i know. i know what you're saying. you're saying 'eve - doesn't watching more tv make you kind of hate yourself?' to which i say, sometimes. watching Friends totally made me hate myself. watching completely distorted reality programming with cartoonish real people? i can do that. watching the show on tv with normal looking people? i can do that too.
anyway.
this is my stupid life right now. that and looking for a job. and planning the move. and sleeping.
yup.
