okay. You got me to read HP -- this once. And I love the way you did this....

It's so true that this is how so many of us follow the traditions.....half-knowing, forgetting some, just remembering that the very observance honors our parents and some heritage we may or may not be proud of, know, or want to deal with.

It's how I grew up, too.

It's. He's not looking for anything. This is just a connection to his mother and maybe a way of defying his father.

Oooh, I love this. With minor tweaks, though, it doesn't have to be AU. Eileen and Elisheva kind of fit.

I came here from your comment in stilljewish and liked it a lot. Gives a plausible (at the time it was written) origin and insight into the character, too.
