Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Callie Gillard, and I am a 2005 graduate of Northwestern State University of Louisiana. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a News/Editorial concentration, and would love to put the knowledge and skills I have acquired through college and work experience to valuable use. I am not limiting my employment search to the journalism field because of the limited availability of entry-level positions and my high level of interest in other lines of work. This opportunity, in particular, strongly appeals to me for several reasons, and I believe I am perfectly qualified to fulfill its responsibilities.

During college I was employed by the student newspaper and yearbook where my writing skills were required to be above average, and my work needed to be an enjoyable read. I feel that I met and exceeded the expectations of those publications and gained important professional people skills along the way. I interviewed countless members of the university’s faculty, staff and student body. I learned how to efficiently transcribe my recorded interviews and balance my work with the demands of a full class load. I later brought my organizational and transcription skills to the Student Government Association where I served as Secretary for a semester. You will see on my resume that my varied work experience has brought me in contact with a diverse spectrum of the population, so I am very comfortable in any work environment.

I am quick to learn and easy to teach. My intelligence aids my resourcefulness, and I love to meet a challenge head on. I equate effective communication with success. To me ethics and integrity are two of the most important traits any professional can have, and I strive to live and work according to my values. My ambition and strong common sense makes me a driven, intelligent worker. I am only satisfied with my best effort and stellar results.

One of the most attractive aspects of this position is its non-corporate setting. I would definitely say that my ideal job does not include cubicles and fluorescent lighting. I welcome and value opportunity to work in a home environment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider me for this administrative assistant position. I am certain that I would be an excellent addition to your business and a pleasant person to work with. I am looking forward to speaking with someone about the possibility of joining your team. Please feel free to contact me by telephone or email so we can arrange an interview. Have a fantastic day.

Sincerely,

Callie R. Gillard
