Life Update

I've been back in Kentucky for a couple months now. I am waiting for the FBI to get done with my background check and send it to the KY Board of Nursing. Since KY is a compact state, it will mean that I will be able to practice as an LPN in 25 states. That's kinda cool.

I'm very nervous about getting a job. It's been a long time.

I also sent in my application to Excelsior College for their RN program. It's not the ideal thing, but living where I do and gas being what it is, there are not a lot of choices. The problem with Excelsior is that the credits do not transfer, as you don't really take classes, but rather test out them. It's also a bit expensive, but my father has volunteered to cover the cost. He fully realizes how important it is that I move into the role of bread-winner. Husband grows older everyday.

Husband's work is also not providing the income that it was a couple years ago. He tells me that he is going to start driving to the city again. I am not looking to work more than part-time because I still will be responsible for all the household stuff and earning my RN. Husband certainly won't have time to help if he is commuting an hour each way to work. But Little Goddess is approaching 14 and has actually become quite a help. Her sister (10) does increasingly more too.

The river property is still sitting over there and we are still trying to figure out how to get on to it. The mortgage on this house looms over our head. It would be ever-so freeing to be rid of it. We would like to turn the barn on the river place into a two bedroom dwelling. That would allow at least Husband and the dogs to relocate while this place gets sold. Then we could take the money from the sale and put it toward a more proper home, while all of us lived in the barnhouse.

Husband is supposed to pick up some used lumber, from a guy he knows, tomorrow. We are looking at doing the barnhouse project with as much second hand stuff as we can find. I imagine the dry-wall and insulation will have to be new.....

In a lot of ways, life is fine. My marriage is at peace, the girls are healthy, and I'm enjoying being back in the country.
