What to do?
I am trying to figure out what to do about visiting my family in CA. The original plan was for the four of us (Me, DaddyBub, BabyBub and C.) to all drive out west this summer. Take 2 weeks. See the country, blah blah. That way we could stop in Idaho to see my Dad and Stepmom (we haven't been to their place in Idaho since Feb 1999) and we could all go (since DaddyBub does NOT fly) and then head down to CA to see my stepsis and family and my grandmother. Well, the closer we get to the trip the more I am dreading it. BabyBub will be 2 in June. 2 year old + car seat for hours at a time= no fun. However, the family has not seen the kids since November 2005. To make it an even harder decision, the course schedule has come out for a fiber arts school where my MIL and I have been wanting to take a couple classes. I was looking for knitting, she was looking for something related to fiber and dyes. Of course, this is the summer that those two things are offered at the same time and the house we rent is still available then. We have been waiting for 5 years for these things to align. But taking a week off in June and then 2 more in July is not a possibility. I guess I could take the kids this spring to CA and then we can also go to the fiber arts school.
I feel like a brat whining about it--these are not problems. But decisions are not easy for me when it comes to the family in CA. Stepmother's guilt is a powerful thing.
