Canada - Universal Child Tax Benefits

Jul 12, 2006 10:01

I thought this info may be helpful re the new $100/month credits.

As you are most likely aware, the government has initiated the
Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) in their 2006 budget. This benefit
provide families with $100 per month, per child 6 years of age or younger.
The benefit will be paid to each family on the 20th of every month starting
this July.

Most people are not aware, however, that they need to apply to
receive the benefit. You can download the appropriate form and find out more
information on the UCCB with the following link. Those who are receiving the
Canadian Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) will automatically qualify assuming the
child is 6 or under.

Form: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/rc66/rc66-fill-04e.pdf

Website: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/benefits/uccb/menu-e.html

The form shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to complete and
it's worth  $1,200 per year per child. I encourage you to do so ASAP in
order to be among the first to receive the benefit.
