i had made arrangements for my mom to meet Carter and Abbie at the metro yesterday morning, so she could take them to work with her while i went up to the Jewish for my non stress test. Mike and I went up-got hooked up to the monitors. One checks contractions, the other checks the baby's heartrate. well. senhor was sleeping. After about 15 minutes of senhor sleeping, i joked to Mike that he'd wake up if he heard music from shining force (a game i've been playing pretty much nonstop these last 2 weeks) Mike happened to have his psp, and shining force was on one of his mem cards...he put the psp to my stomach and as soon as senhor heard the music he threw a tantrum. It was funny but also embarrassing to have the nurse come by and go "what did you do to him??" so we were able to finish up the test pretty quickly after that. We weren't allowed to leave though, they decided to book me for an ultrasound to check my fluid levels. Fine whatever. we go to the ultrasound room and the technician starts doing her thing. making all these faces and asks me "how big were your previous babies?" so I tell her and she says "this is a biiiig baby" and keeps making faces and measuring. says "i'm getting a reading of over 10lbs-i'm going to get the dr" I start giggling. Mike looks worried "omg they're going to want to induce you right now" I keep giggling, the dr comes in, asks me how tall i am and says "okay you're tall you can deliver this big baby-he's measuring 10lbs 3oz-there's a margin of error of one lb either way so he could be 9lbs 3 oz or 11lbs 3 oz" I'm still giggling. Mike looks like he's about to pass out (he was thinking that they'd want to c-section me) I basically stopped laughing long enough to tell the doc that they were expcting Abbie to be a 10lber-and she only weighed 8lbs6oz. anyway, so i can't stop giggling. Mike thinks i'm losing it-having some kind of nervous reaction. But really, i'm just amused. I've lost about 2-3 lbs making my total weight gain about 18 lbs-and half of that could be baby? Alsoi believe the margin or error is closer to 2 lbs-and i expect senhor to be between 8 and 9lbs.
we will probably find out soon enough-within the next 24hrs. I've been contracting steadily since this evening. they started at 6ish-died for an hour or two-but have been happening since about 10. They're about 9 minutes apart right now-i'm timing them on Mike's itouch :) he donloaded a contraction app...they're getting intense.
