damn weather and work
im going to work tonight, and of course there is a nice 'severe thunderstorm watch' just posted. I decided to work mainly mornings this summer to avoid this...what sucks is im working 1 night a week..and i know this will happen again.
They basically told us the procedure incase weather happens...basically im sure by now they have been alerted and told all the residents a watch was in effect. Then they have procedures for each of the other watches/warnings (tornado).
I was basically told if they are in the dining room when a severe thunderstorm happens we close the blinds (which are paper thin) and stay there. (most occurances of tornados happen between the hours of 3 and 6 in minnesota...so perfect, RIGHT OVER MY SHIFT). So ok...if the sirens go off they either stay where they are or go in the hall. STILL NO BASEMENT! and well...if a tornado hits, we are all dead b/c everyone is in a dining room surrounded by glass protected by paper thin blinds...and sharp objects.
We cant force them to do anything...i guess a few years back a few of them were outside when the sirens went off and they refused to come in...i guess they got hit by hail or something....idiots.
Well i basically told them 'tornados (next to airplanes) are my biggest fear and you better believe im going to the basement the MINUTE i want to.' yeah...they wern't happy but they cant keep me in a glass room damn it!
Damn it!! why cant it just stay winter all fucking year like in Antartica!
to top it all off...ill be paranoid as all hell about the cats..wondering if they will be ok.
