Majestic in the truest sense
Today on a whim I decided to go visit the Victoria Mansion. Which I guess makes me a total geek, but I loved it. If you thought the exterior was majestic, you should see the interior. Wow. Overkill with the lavishness. Still, I'd much love to live in a place like that. Majesty in every room. The parlor was themed "seduction" or something, and there were cherubs on the walls and a painting of some soldiers taking out the Catholic Church. I really liked it. Naturally.
I met a really nice couple from Idaho on the tour who said that in their state, which is new compared to Maine, has not much in the way of old landmarks. And I told them that I live just around the corner. But I wanted to experience the majesty of old Portland like a true tourist.
And now I smell like old things. It makes me gleeful.
