A few things on my mind this evening. (or should I say things I've learned after 28 years on this planet.)
* We had a smog advisory today in the city. I stayed inside at work and didn't go out walking at lunch time. Is it safe to say that the crummy summer weather has finally arrived?
* Everyone making over say $15.00 an hour should iron their shirts/blouses. It's not too much to ask is it?
* There is too much sex on tv for one reason. Reality is boring. And people don't like realistic television shows. The average teenager studies, yaps with friends, watches tv and listens to music. Good luck making a hit show with that storyline repeated ad nauseum.
* Taking the stairs instead of the escalator is nice, but it doesn't count as exercise.
* Priorties: Imagine buying brand new cds; buying coffee at Tim Hortons twice a day; owning over 50 hats/caps....and then saying you don't have enough money to send your daughter to summer daycamp. Yes sir, that's just fucked up. I would eat canned spam every day so that my daughter could go to camp if she wanted to.
* When did it become socially acceptable to be clueless. I remember Chris Rock saying all those years ago about how some people are proud to be stupid.
"What's the capital of Egypt?"
"Man I don't know that shit. I'm keeping it real.$"
$You can change the phrase, but the root is the same. More and more people just like to wallow in being ignorant.
* Hillary Clinton got a seven minute standing ovation when she gave the commencement address at her university. Life magazine wrote articles about her before she graduated. She got her law degree from Yale. Only after all that did she marry Bill. So please even though I'm hardly a big backer of her, let's cut the BS that Bill got her everything in life.
* It's upsetting that this day in age the myth that there is some kind of ideal body type out there that people (ie. women) have to live up to, still exists. It boggles my mind. People need to put down People magazine and just take a walk out in the mall. To paraphrase Mr. Rock once again, "There are men out there who would drop kick Jessica Simpson out of the way in order to get to Rosie O'Donnell."
* I have realised that my hair line is receding faster than I thought it was. Which surprised me since neither of my older brothers have this issue, and my dad had a full set of hair into his 40's. Ah well, I guess I'll just have to remain handsome while going bald. :)
* You'll never see a seagull on the cover of National Geographic. They are a bit ugly, annoying and probably not the cleanest of creatures. But you know what, you'll never see Seagulls on the Endangered Species list either. They are a living, breathing example that Fortune really does Favour the Bold. You'll never see a coward seagull, nor will you ever see a starving one.
* HP Fan fiction needs more attractive female characters. Or should I say the female characters need to be made more attractive. Cuz, it's sure hard to read a story where the male characters are objectified to high heaven and the female characters are duller than day old dish water. Throw on a skirt, put on some makeup, wear a push up bra, do anything to make me not want to stab myself with a fork.
* Also Neville/Parvati >>> your favourite fandom ship.
* H/G >>>> well you know. Yeah, that's right, I went there.
* R/Hr is my favourite ship to write, if only because I prefer to write Ron and the Grangers. :)
* If your fiancee tells you, you can't have your bachelor party anywhere where there are other women, I can safely say your married life is going to be crap. Congratulations, you are marrying a crazy woman.
* If you are young (19-21) and you got your license, and you go up to the cottage with your buddies. And you have lunch and a few drinks, then drive off. And you go speeding. And you crash and die and kill two of your friends and almost a third, do you really expect me to feel for you? What part of don't drink and drive didn't you understand? What part of maybe I shouldn't speed like dumb fuck didn't you understand? Yes, I can feel for their families because a death is a death. But what if they hit and killed someone? What if it was a mother and her child? A father coming home from work? What then? If they drank and drove this time, why wouldn't they do it again? And again? And again until someone catches them or they get into an accident. So no, Toronto Star and the rest of the Toronto Media, I don't think it's a grave tragedy that these three dumb fucks killed themselves.
