I've often thought autumn a hateful season (everything turns brown and then it rains for six months) and wondered at those who say they like it. After a climb (literally in places... the path wouldn't have got me to the summit before sunset) up Mont Royal this afternoon I may have to change my opinion, it's clearly just a matter of botany.

Stunning colours! Thats why I like autumn. Its better in the midlands where I was surrounded by colours like this. You've clearly been in the south east to long!

When we were there it was warm in the day but did drop to below freezing if it was a clear night. The air is much dryer than in the UK I think so it didn't feel as cold. Gets very cold in the winter. May get chance to visit this winter as Simon is hoping to have a course in Ottawa.

Yes, there was a little cloud which was keeping nighttime temperatures up. Today was very clear so it certainly feels like it's approaching freezing tonight.
