I'm on my first trip out of the UK (actually, out of England) since a tedious business trip to Eindhoven when I was still at Philips back in 2003. How non-cosmopolitan of me. Ho hum. The flight was the least unpleasant long haul I've ever been on, evidently the standard human used by the designers of the Airbus A330 wasn't a shrunken dwarf.
Montreal is strange. It all feels so North American (as in continent, not country) and yet so very French. I'm sure all the bilingual signs will do wonders for my vocab though...
Now to venture down from my eyrie (high rise hotels are a new one, never slept on the 15th floor before) to try and find caffeinated beverages so that I can get to sleep late enough that I'm not hopelessly jetlagged for the first day of the conference tomorrow.
