Interesting Dialogue Between Mother and Daughter

Oct 06, 2006 14:19

Mom's thinking of moving Es'ka to a different school. She told the director of the current school about it, and the next day, the principal tells Es'ka that from then on she's in charge of the student planners, and making sure everything is written down in them, and she ended up convincing Es'ka that she can't leave, since the school can't do without her. She's in first grade. Anyways, she comes home, and says to mom:

Es'ka: Mom, I can't leave Shaloh House. Ira (the school principal) needs me to be in charge of the student planners. But I don't want to go to class. I'll help out the teachers in Ben'ka's class (who is three, and turning four in May), and when the kids in my class need my help with the planners, Ira will call me.
Mom: Number one, you can't miss class. It's the whole point of school. Number two, that's all right. You could be a great help, but they can manage without you.
Es'ka: Ok, then, I'll help the teachers line the kids up to go inside from recess then, instead of going to class. I'm a good screamer, AND I have a whistle.
Mom: (getting impatient) I told you, you can't miss class!
Es'ka: All right, in that case, I'll become the school director.
Mom: What!? What are you talking about! The school already has a director! Rabbi R___!!
Es'ka: (remaining perfectly indifferent) He's going to die soon.
Mom: (completely shocked) WHAT!?!?!? Are you CRAZY!!! He's so young!!!!
Es'ka: (in a "so there" type of tone) Well, he has a long beard.

Take a look at Es'ka's pictures on anna_i's latest entry. The little girl in all the pics is of course Es'ka, the littler boy in the second and third pic is Ben'ka, and the not so little girl in the third pic is me. The entry with the pics is dated Oct 6, 2006.
