Sorry, more ranting :(
Yesterday was psychotic customer day, due to 2 simultaneous events: a (verbal) fight between 2 separate groups of customers in the short aisle directly in front of the framing counter, and a very creepy, irritating customer returning after a long absence. The fight was over relativly quickly, but the creepy guy accused us of cutting the white off his $700 print. This an order he picked up in August.
I took the order, but the only thing I remember about him is him calling several times until it was ready, then him coming in and rudely interrupting me and another customer to demand that I give it to him immediately. He claimed he had surgery in 20 mins and that the print was worth $6000. He was so happy with it, and he gave me a travel brochure with "I love Jesus" on it.
Yesterday he made several angry accusations, and demanded we do something to make him happy. We are now replacing the frame, and adding a couple of mats, all worth ~$200, free of charge, and I think we are refunding the original frame order as well. He was so happy he literally blessed our manager (complete with all the hand motions) and gave several staff and customers christian pamphlets on the way out. All while dressed in a Value Village collage. VERY creepy.
Today I gained an ear into the managers' meetings (my roommate got the management position up for grabs) and discovered that the mangler is a far different, scary person in there. She wants to get rid of half the staff and hates it when staff talks to other staff. She doesn't care if you're working, she wants absolutely no chit-chat. No wonder no one is happy there. She has no intention of changing, and she believes that everyone has had the opportunity to change to her way of doing things, so anyone not following the party-line deserves to be fired. Good thing she can't up and fire someone. She just dedicatedly drives away the ones she hates through constant nit-picking and nagging. She wants to get rid of most of the old staff at this point, so she says.
This has added fuel to my desire to leave, even though I know she doesn't have much of a problem with me. It would have been much simpler if she had written up a list of her expectations, and anyone who couldn't or wouldn't comply could have left. Oh well, I'll just stick it out until I can go to school full time on loans.
