Yeah, it's another Kangin-leaving-for-the-army-fic. Leave me alone. ;_;
wait for me

They've been sitting across from each other like this for the better part of half an hour. Taeyeon is fidgeting in her seat, her eyes fixed on her wringing hands. She doesn't know how to handle it anymore; the silence is deafening and she just isn't sure how he wants her to react.
She knew this day would come, but why should she even care? They've been broken up for almost a year now. She shouldn't have to care.
But she does. And she hates herself for it.
"Say something," he tries, a pleading in his voice she hasn't heard in a while. Taeyeon looks up to find him staring at her, gaze leveled and serious.
"I don't know what you want me to say," she finally says, her hands stopping their wringing against each other. She brushes a few strands of her newly dyed hair behind her ear delicately, nibbling at her lip in thought. "You already made the decision didn't you?"
He nods, running a hand through his raven colored hair and sighs audibly. "'I'll miss you' is always a popular choice." He says sarcastically.
But I won't, Taeyeon thinks to herself, If I allow myself to it'll hurt too much.
Kangin watches her with that look she hates, that look where he's trying to see through her facade and break down her defenses.
She hates it, because he usually succeeds in doing it.
He then smiles a bit and stands up, walking around the coffee table and sitting down next to her. Immediately, she feels warmth emitting from him on her side; the smell of his musky cologne heavy but pleasant in her nose and it's familiar. He's wearing the one she gave him on his birthday, she notes with a fond smile. Because now that he isn't sitting opposite her, she allows herself to show emotion.
The way they sit now is how they used to do a lot when they weren't dating and memories flood Taeyeon's mind like a waterfall crashing down on her.
She remembers one day where it had been raining and she had forgotten her umbrella on her way home from the company. He'd offered his own to her and had run off without anything, getting completely drenched in the process and catching a cold the next day.
She giggles at the memory, the love she felt from that time suddenly blooming in her chest again.
He turns to look at her curiously, and Taeyeon can feel his eyes on her but she doesn't turn to meet them. Instead, she leans her head on his shoulder like she used to and closes her eyes, inhaling his scent quietly.
"I'll miss you," she then says after a moment, surrendering.
He exhales, obviously relieved.
"Will you wait for me?" Kangin asks gently, reaching for her hand and intertwining their fingers, giving them a light squeeze.
She opens her eyes and watches their hands for a moment, the warmth from his calloused fingertips and palm working like a fire through her arm.
"Always," she replies firmly and looks up at the same time as he looks down, their eyes meeting and locking in an unspoken promise. He would have never even have had to ask.
Her eyes are slightly hooded as she feels his warm breath wafting over her lips, and she doesn't fight it when he leans down to kiss her; light brushes of his lips against her own, and it's electrifying and romantic all at the same time. She ignores her heart breaking because he's only going to be gone two years after all. All of their fights and discrepancies are washed away and it kind of feels like a new start - even though it won't begin for another two years.
