Seeing as how I haven't written anything in here in over a month, I decided it was time for a little update.

I'm rather exhausted, just having returned from the orchestra trip to Orlando. It was alot of fun and the rides were nice. The bus rides of all these trips I've been going on have become therapudic. Staring off into the road with music playing relaxes me.

Work is alright. I've come to realize that I'm working for a person that has the organizational skills of a five year old. It's probably the product of taking over a business he has no idea how to run and him being so caught up in trying to find a way to keep himself afloat. Either way, the fact that he fired the only guy who really knew how to run his computer system has left only me to learn how to do it myself (and I have, learning from plenty of mistakes; which adds a substantial amount of job security for me). I spend 3/4 of my time there in the back showing him how to make reports and keep tabs on things that any business owner should DEFINITELY know how to do, three years in. To give a background, Manuel used to be a salesman for Coleman, a camping gear company. He bought out a sheet music store, hired a violin repairman, learned everything from him, and then fired him. However, he never seems to know what he's doing when he tries to fix a violin. A message to all of my string instrument friends: DO NOT take an instrument to Manuel. But, DO come into the store, as I can give you a discount on any of the stuff you buy. I work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays if any of you are interested.

I got that rent-as-much-as-you-want plan at Blockbuster. So far, it's been working out GREAT. Between April 1st and April 12th, I had rented six movies-one at a time, of course. It has given me the opportunity to catch up on all the movies I never convinced myself to shell out the money to rent (sometimes with good reason).

I've had about one gig per week (which is wonderful, but is simply due to the lack of cheap bass players), although my playing still reeks of ass. Have to work much more on that. Watching the guys at Tuscany every Thursday has become a regular thing, and I've also been frequenting this bar in the Gables called "the Globe" because they have some kick ass cats (for those of you who may not know, a "cat" is a sick jazz musician and I've chosen to pick up the slang) although last week they had a combo from FIU that...sucked. I've also been working on trying to get a steady gig at a restaurant called Perricone's in downtown. Hopefully that will work out because I'd be playing with Jeff, Rocky Yera (easily the best sax player under the age of say, 50 in Miami) and this beast of a drummer named Andrew (all thanks to Jeff, who seems intent on me progressing with my playing for who knows what reason).

Okay, so tonight didn't end of the best of notes and I feel like an asshole, but I'm tired and ready to go to sleep.
