Writing this now so that when it happens I can point you to the entry and see "say! I told you so!"
Recently, after it hit the point where it was obvious he'd win, Boris Johnson endorsed Barrack Obama. BoJo is fairly right-wing, though he's been forced to lean rather left thanks to accidentally ending up mayor of London.
Why would he want to do a thing like that?
BoJo, for all his English bluster, is an American, born in New York. I think he's angling for getting the Democrat nomination when Obama is done - 2016 he'll still not be THAT old.
Also gives him 8 years to become leader of the Tories, and get elected Prime Minister of the UK.
That I think is his plan, he wants to be President of the US and British Prime Minister at the same time.
Tell me I'm wrong! Tell me it's impossible! Because as far as I can see there are no legal barriers to it happening, it's just that BoJo is the first person who's been in a position to call it off. I mean, the guy's a unionist, so doing the democratic equivalent to what James VI of Scotland did must appeal to him on some level.
