OMG! Slings and Arrows
I'm watching the last part of the 2nd season of Slings and Arrows. I was considering how I feel about the character of Ellen. I'm not liking her much at present.
When she told the actor playing MacBeth about Geoffrey seeing Oliver's ghost, it seemed like a betrayal. Until then I was ready to accept her as a flawed but likable character. By that I mean, a character that we (the audience) were supposed to view as mostly sympathetic. It seemed like TPTB desired the audience to want things to work out for her and Geoffrey. I was trying to decide if I was falling into the Woobie!Geoffrey viewpoint by regarding her action, gossiping about Geoffrey's visions/hallucinations, as being essentially unforgivable. If I was willing to view her treatment of her coworkers as being "flaws" was I overreacting? It seemed possible that the pressure of the tax audit was supposed to somewhat excuse what she did.
I just now watched the bit when began she kissing her sister's husband while he was sorting out her taxes. No, no girlfriend, not your brother-in-law! Okay, this is not a sympathetically written character.
I'm enjoying this show so much. I'm actually rooting for characters. I only want to slap Richard, the business manger, because I like him!
