You are all terribly distrustful. That's good.

So that you're working with an informed opinion however, this was the work of neither myself nor the Organization.

I don't suppose the validity of the letter would make a difference to residents like myself either way, would it?

You'd be surprised.

Is that so? Wouldn't a return of those who should've died drastically change the events that transpire afterwards? The timeline in our home world would alter and as a result, some people might not even be born. The consequences, whether they're for better or for worse, would be far too great.

Oh no no no, you misunderstand; should you be returned exactly in the same state, you'd still be dead.

That's hardly a prospect to look forward to.

What about the children who were born in this world? They were never supposed to exist back home, thus there would be no 'absence' or dire consequences. The existence of these children in Luceti should be natural.

Well, I assume that's why they didn't receive letters.

The fact that they can't read, or even understand its contents, has nothing to do with that?

I doubt that much thought was put into it, judging by apparently how uniform the contents are. Not to mention that by simply having their child receive them, the parents would be made aware that their child is also subject to the consequences listed therein.

What do you suppose will happen if this letter is telling the truth and a parent tries to take their child through the portal?

Well, if I wanted to morbid I'd say the baby would cease to exist.

I'd theorized the same thing, sadly.

With notions like that hanging over our heads, there are already enough residents who will refuse the offer.

"Enough?"

Enough to keep the village inhabited, should this offer be valid.

Well, that's of little consequence. You all are special, that's for certain, but a mouse is a mouse no matter how pedigree it is.
