Goodness, this is certainly quite a mess. All this fighting! It's a good thing these things are all quite harmless and incapable of killing or this would have got nasty quite quick. Well, I suppose that's what I get for attending other things, aha. Now I know how the Great One felt when I bungled one of his Shifts when I was a young lad. In any case, Molly? Be a dear and come over here if you will.
[ She approaches slowly. She doesn't want to do this. She'd rather hide, forever, and never see daylight again than answer for a mistake of such a monumental scale. The first time... the very first time Bil had trusted her with a big Shift, one that would even help the residents of the enclosure...
... and she'd scewed it up. So catastrophically that now many were in a panic, running around, fighting every monster they could see. It wasn't all chaos, sure -- many of the projections were simply world scenarios, and the "monsters" themselves weren't lethal. Still ... no amount of justification, nothing she told herself, made her feel better.
Molly had promised herself to be champion of these people. To do good where her gracious coworkers had only taken, and used, and demeaned. And here she was, no better than them at all. She braces, taking a deep breath. ]
I-I-I-I ... [ ... ] ... I am ... sorry. W-W-W-What you are experiencing n-n-now is not a-a-a-a-a-an exp-p-periment. It is ... a m-m-m-mistake. I was attempting t-t-t-to perform a Sh-Sh-Sh-Sh-Shift on the B-B-B-Battledome, a-a-and I-I f-f-f-failed. [ Her stutter is getting worse, isn't it? Get it together, Molly! ]
I-I-I-I-I-It w-w-was not i-i-intentional, a-a-a-a-a-- [ A deep breath. ] And I ap-p-pologize f-f-for any g-g-g-g-grief you have all s-s-s-s-suffered. R-R-R-Rest assured th-th-th-that when the D-D-Dome is fixed, it w-w-will be better th-th-th-th-than ever.
[ Here, she releases another long breath and attaches a text document to this broadcast that each resident will be able to read on their journals. It is a bulleted list of all the changes listed
here.
... she considers adding something else -- a thank you, another sorry -- but instead she only steps back, allowing Bil to take the stage again. ]
Now then, I urge you not to be too hard on the poor girl. I bear a bit of the responsibility myself. We'll have this all cleared up in no time. Now then... in any case, since I have your attention.
I must congratulate you all! Intentionally allowing yourself to lose on the draft was a stroke of brilliance. I must commend you Sir Albert, as I am sure it was your brilliant idea. After having won so many battles with my assistance, it certainly did the Commandant no favors to have you defeated so utterly spectacularly. Astonishing, really. I am ashamed that I hadn't thought of it myself.
In any case, this is a stroke of luck for all of you. I've arranged for some of my people still loyal to me to set up a special program where you might prove your usefulness to the Malnosso as being more than test subjects or soldiers. You will, of course, be rewarded for your efforts. This is rather excellent timing, seeing as my ability to smuggle in additional resources inside the enclosure has, quite sadly, been severely limited. I'll no longer be able to take any requests, I'm afraid. Of course, I realize this all sounds a bit suspect, but I do urge you to give it some consideration when it comes up!
Ahem, but that's all I can say on that. Mum's the word and all that.
[Note: Please specify your responses to Molly or to Bil in the subject, thank you!]
