Well, speaking from my perspective here, music is something that is very important to me, it almost defines me as a person. And when someone (and it's not just you, believe me, I get it a lot) cuts down something that important to me it hurts. I'm sorry if I ever hurt your feelings by saying that I don't want you to trash my music...I didn't mean to.

As for not caring about your problem, that's so not true! I didn't even KNOW it was such a big problem to you or I'd have tried to help you out. Then again, I don't really know what to do about it. Gah. I dunno.

You're my buddy. Don't be saddy Travis.

Well, first off, I don't remember ever saying I didn't care about this problem you speak of, because I didn't know you had that problem with music. I know you don't like the state of current music, and with good reason. I hate about 90% of music myself. That's why I don't watch television or listen to the radio. It's a fucking waste of time because it's oversaturated with pure shit and the same thing over and over and over again. I'm with you on most of the views you have toward music, seriously. But I didn't know you felt like you just don't like music anymore. I can totally see why though. But you have to remember, we found the end of music YEARS ago, and now the only way to go is backward, in different genre spurts. That's why a couple years ago we had the 70s New York underground revival, and this year we've had the new wave revival, and back in '00 or '01 some well meaning bands attempted to bring back the punk scene and only succeeded in spawning the 'pop punk' movement...so you can see why I say that backwards is the only way ( ... )

Often people can't help what gets their toes tappin'. I'm sorry your current feelings toward music are those of disdain. Maybe it's just a phase. Maybe if you just try to forget about the band/artist, the industry, other people's opinions/musical taste, etc... and just listen you'll rediscover the reason music meant so much to you. Or maybe try listening to something new or something old that you never wanted to listen to before (and attempt to enjoy it), perhaps that will be stimulating enough to relieve your boredom with music.
But remember that music is subjective and people are entitled "like what they like" and to disregard your criticisms. Don't be upset with your friends because they like something you don't or nothing at all. In the end music is just a thing, and there are many things more important.
Chin up Travee! Everything will be ok. Let me know if I can help.

Have you tried NOT overanylyzing(sic) what you are listening to? Instead of bitching about why this band isnt that band over there or why isnt this song like that other song...just listen and enjoy. Not all bands/songs/music cna be the greatest band/song/music of ever. Enjoy the imperfections, and try not to think about it. Dont complain that band A isn't the originator of genre B, so therefore they suck. Just because a band was the first doesn't make them the best.

If you are listening to music with your head you have lost already.
