I HEART the 30s

Jul 02, 2009 20:15

I saw Public Enemies yesterday.  I really, really enjoyed it, but I may be biased in that I inherently love all films that take place in the 1930s.  Australia, The Aviator, The Rocketeer, the Indiana Jones trilogy, La Vie en rose, The Saddest Music in the World, Remains of the Day, Out of Africa, The Purple Rose of Cairo, The English Patient, Big Fish, Gosford Park, Mrs. Miniver, Citizen Kane, Atonement, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and now Public Enemies.  I love them all.  I just want to get lost inside the world of these films.  I don't know why the 30s is my favourite decade.  It just is.  It kind of explains my unhealthy love of John-Boy from The Waltons, though.

And there are a couple of films set in the 30s coming up that I'm eagerly anticipating!

Amelia (for some reason, the font of the title makes me all giddy in a 30s sort of way)

Coco avant Chanel (its in French with no subtitles, but it's soooo pretty!)
