While I'm disappointed that there'll be no "HIMYM" or "Big Bang Theory" tonight (*grumble, grumble*), I am excited for the coming Christmas movie season. I alway have a huge list of films I want to go see, and I only get around to a couple. Anyhoo, I thought I'd show you all what's up, so you can share in my excitement. Saddle up folks - it's gonna be a vid-heavy post.
First up, three movies in which impassioned people yell smart sounding things at each other:
Doubt - based on a play starring two of my favourite actors, Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Frost/Nixon - also based on a play, and starring the always awesome Michael Sheen (whom some may remember as Tony Blair in "The Queen")

Revolutionary Road - Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio reunited! It answers the age-old question: What if Douglas Sirk had directed "American Beauty"?

Next, we have Clint Eastwood coming out of retirement for Gran Torino - how is it possible that he gets even more badass as he gets older?

Slumdog Millionaire, the new Danny Boyle film. It's being touted as this years indie hit, in the tradition of "Juno" and "Little Miss Sunshine"

Adoration, a new Atom Egoyan (a terrific Canadian director, for those not in the know) film - always worth a look-see. Looks like we're in for some classic Egoyan mind-bending narrative structures.

Australia - it's as if Sergio Leone remade "Casablanca"!

...and finally, Repo! The Genetic Opera. I love Anthony Stewart Head, and I've been waiting for ages for him to show off those glorious pipes of his. A mind-fuck of a film, along the lines of "Rocky Horror" or "Hedwig and the Angry Inch".
