Do you believe in an afterlife?

Should I have the misfortune of dying I would pass on to Mandos to rest my soul and await the time I may walk amongst the living again. This may not be an "afterlife" in the same sense as humans would think it but it is the one elves may face.

Come on, kid. My casa isn't that bad. You'll get used to it, I swear.

*Blinks in surprise*

I didn not mean to imply that it was bad at all, merely that dying in general is a less than desirable thing.
If I were to die I would know your halls would be a place of peace I may stay in until I am ready to return to the living.

Good grief, you make it seem as if death were a permanent thing. It's not. Look, when your time comes, and I find you and tell you to get a move on, it'll be like checking into a luxurious hotel room until your house is finished. Capiche?

*Looks puzzled* Didn't I say that? That it's only some place to stay until I'm ready to move on?

Well, you've sort of got the right idea about it. See, you are not the one that determines if you're ready to be reborn. We determine that according to this sliding scale that we have. Don't worry, we grade everything on a curve.

And you're making it seem like it's this terrible tragedy to stay in my hall. I know elves that never want to leave!

I was aware it is up to the descision of the Valar when one leaves though to hear some folks wish not to... *Shrugs and quirks a lip in a grin* I guess I would find out if I ever died but pardon me if I say I'm not in a hurry to do so.
