==Seoul Zoo, Later in the Day==
“Umma! Umma! Why are you so slow? I wanna see the monkeys first!” Sungmin yelled as he yanked on his umma’s hand, dragging Leeteuk across the parking lot to the gate until Leeteuk caught up with Sungmin. Lagging slightly behind was KangIn with Kyuhyun on his shoulders and playing his psp on his father’s head. After they reached and passed the gate, the makeshift family found their way to the aquarium first.
“Where’s the monkeys? Why aren’t we at the monkeys first?” Sungmin wailed, Leeteuk shushed him fiercely and propped the small boy on his lack of hip while Kyuhyun noticed two other boys with their parents behind them. One of them had sleek dark brown hair and a diagonal cut just barely over his eyes. He had his faced pressed against the glass, jaw totally slack as he admired the deep blue and flittering fish that left patches of light when they passed through the rays of false light that managed to make their way through the water.
“Hyukkie! Hyukkie! Come look! Look at all the fish that are swimming a-Ahh! Shark!” he yelped as a tiger shark swam past him. The boy ducked behind ‘Hyukkie’ and the kid sighed before patting the other’s back.
“Donghae-ah, it’s gone away now. The fish are still here.” He said, Hyukkie smirked a bit as he looked directly at the shark that was still there. Poor Donghae looked back to the aquarium and started to cry.
“Appa!!! Can we leave now? Hyukkie’s scaring me!” he tugged on his father’s sleeve. The father looked down at him and crouched to his eye level.
“I thought you like the fish though?”
“Siwon, it’s the shark, it scares him.” A very pale and thin woman answered. “We should probably leave now.”
“Can we see the monkeys instead?” Hyukkie chirped. The woman shot him a look.
“If you tease you brother one more time, we won’t see the monkeys.”
“Aww….” Both Siwon and Hyukkie said in unison.
“Please, Yesungie? For me?” Siwon asked gently. Yesung rolled her eyes and sighed before leading the other family away; taking Donghae by the hand.
“This is why our children are spoiled…” She complained to no one in particular, Kyuhyun watched them leave down the hall.
“Kyu Kyu!” Sungmin squealed at him. He tugged on Kyuhyun’s jacket a million times.
“Yes hyung?” he gave the squealing child a hug to calm him down.
“Umma and Ahjusshi are holding hands!” Sungmin giggled as he grinned. “Let’s go look at another fish tank!” Kyuhyun glanced back in surprise at the two adults while Sungmin dragged him by his hand to another spot further down the hallway surrounded by people.
“You don’t think they notice this, do you?” Leeteuk asked, raising the joined hands and bringing them back down.
“Sungmin and Kyuhyun left already, around two minutes ago. They’re down the hall on our left.” KangIn answered without breaking his gaze away from the glass. Leeteuk snapped his head at KangIn, startled he knew all that when he was pretty sure KangIn never so much as glance at the children. “Sixth sense.” He heard KangIn chuckle. Leeteuk frowned a bit and leaned most of his weight onto KangIn.
“You should be nicer to your hyung you know.”
“The you should start acting like my hyung.” KangIn couldn’t help but laugh when Leeteuk hit his arm.
“Yah! I do too act like one!” he defended. “ I just don’t do it that often….” KangIn smirked at his small victory and moved his hand to Leeteuk’s waist without himself knowing.
“Yah! Kim Youngwoon! I see you there! Don’t think I don’t see you!” A voice rang shrilly next to the couple. Leeteuk jumped and immediately tried to move behind KangIn for cover, but KangIn’s arm stopped him by bringing him closer to the said owner. Heechul was right behind them with a unknown girl wrapped around his arm.
“Oppa, who are these two? I thought said we’d go see the cats next.” The girl whined tugging gently at his arm. Heechul put a finger to her lips and continued his entrance speech.
“And the infamous Teukie Teukie Leeteuk is here! Tell me, are you doing well being a fag father of a son? I may not be Christian, but for his sake I pray he doesn't end up like you.” He sneered, Leeteuk just looked to ground, not enjoying the scene being created. “KangIn, what are you doing here anyway? C’mon, you can do better than this! Look, I know a few girls that would like you, plus I heard from Shingdong that one of his new clients is married to Soo, so why don’t we just leave here and drown your sorrows! Just like old ti-gah!” Heechul yelped while he toppled forward, revealing a red faced and tear stained Kyuhyun behind him. Kyuhyun couldn’t take any of this anymore. Once Heechul got back up, he turned around to yell at Kyuhyun, but before he could, the kid was gone, and to Leeteuk’s fear, so was Sungmin.
“Sungmin! Kyuhun! Come back!” He yelled after them as he ran outside of the aquarium, followed by KangIn, then Heechul (Who has ‘Oh Shit’ written all over his face) and the girl jogging up behind him. Leeteuk stopped across the walkroad and looked frantically, trying to spot the children through the sea of people.
“Can you see them?” KangIn asked when he caught up to Leeteuk. The older shook his head and tried to look again as he covered his hand over his mouth, trying to not go into hysterics. But, the more he tried, the less it worked and next thing he knew he had Heechul by the collar face to face and KangIn was hovering right behind him in case things got too out of hand.
“This.” He hissed at Heechul, “This is all YOUR fault, now if we don’t find them, so help me Kim Heechul, I will make your life a living hell.” He let go of Heechul’s collar and stalked off into the next building he saw, leaving a surprised/impressed KangIn behind, a poor girl at the wrong place wrong time, and Kim Heechul probably finally learning what it’s like to be scared out of his wits.
==Botanical Garden==
Kyuhyun and Sungmin held hands as they walked down the stairs to the ground floor of the garden. Sungmin was absorbed in all the green around him and the fresh scent of flora, but Kyuhyun on the other hand was still thinking about what happened in the aquarium. And what Heechul said about his mother. Sure he was happy she was alive, and actually found, but he knew that it’d be different if he ever saw her again. Once she had left, it would always be different.
Slowly paying attention to his reality once more, Kyuhyun noticed a small girl around his age in pigtails with a slightly too big red sweater that overlapped her navy blue skirt and skinnies. Letting go of Sungmin’s hand he walked over to her and touched her arm ever so slightly.
“Hey, are you alright?” He asked softly, she shook her head, not meeting their eyes and coughed when she tried to stop crying. “Are you lost?” she nodded and let herself cry harder while Kyuhyun wrapped her in a hug. “It’s ok, you’re not alone anymore. Shhh…” he whispered gently. Her whole body trembled during her final sobs before she locked eyes with him and rubbed her tears away. Kyuhyun thought he was hit by a Tonka Truck when he noticed her big brown eyes. They were a lot like Sungmin’s; but different at the same time, and that’s what probably tugged at Kyuhyun’s heartstrings. “W-what’s your name?” he stammered. The girl wiggled out of the hug, fixed her pigtails and smiled angelically at Kyuhyun.
“I’m Ryeowook, but Kibum calls me Wookie.” Kyuhyun’s heart fell hearing another name, unsure who this ‘Kibum’ is.”
“Who’s Kibum?” he tried to mask the lack of kindness when he asked by smiling back at her.
“Kibummie’s my best friend! She and I are visiting the zoo today with her big sister Hannie, but I kind of got lost here, I was looking at the sky from here, and I guess I thought it was so pretty that I didn’t notice when they left.”
“If that’s the last place you saw them, then you should stay here since they can come back to find you.” Sungmin chirped from behind Kyuhyun. Ryeowook nodded silently and looked at both boys.
“We can…uh… I guess we can stay with you until they find you. Cause, I mean, we’re… Hyung and I, well… we.. um..”
“We ran away from our parents, so we need to wait for them too so they can find us.” Sungmin finished. Ryeowook gasped at their reckless action.
“But why?” Kyuhyun really didn’t want to answer, but her voice was quickly sounding like honey to him, and if he looked at her eyes once more, he’s sure he’d lose all control of being secretive.
“Another adult started bullying my Umma so Kyu kyu kicked him in the leg and then so the mean person wouldn’t catch us we ran away!” Sungmin said, with unneeded and misunderstood enthusiasm.
“Kyu…kyu?” Ryeowook quoted. Kyuhyun rubbed the back of his neck and couldn’t hide a goofy grin sprawled on his face when he explained.
“It’s Minnie hyung’s nickname for me. My name’s really Kyuhyun.”
“And mine’s Sungmin!” Sungmin added.
“Kyuhyun.” Ryeowook tested, she hid her face from him so she could test how his name fell off her tongue easily and smiled to herself, brushing stray hair out of her face. Sungmin had to force himself not to smile or giggle when he saw that the two other kids were both blushing without noticing the opposite person noticing.
“Ryeowook?” a female voice called out above them from the stairs. Ryeowook’s whole face brightened as she realized she was reunited with her party.
“Unnie! I’m down here!” she yelled back in response. The woman gracefully walked down the stairs with a young girl with glasses and a plaid jumper over a white blouse followed silently. Her stringy hair was pull into two thin and tiny pigtails that jutted out just above her neck. Once they reached the bottom of the stairs the woman crouched down on her knees with her arms outstretched in which Ryeowook gladly ran to. Sungmin, normally would have been touched by this happy moment, but he was too busy looking at the shy girl that stood aways back and was looking back at him. He felt himself smile when she smile cutely and shoved his hand in his pockets when he discovered she was blushing under those large frame glasses. He walked a few steps toward her, but stopped when he heard another voice.
“Jungsu-sshi! They’re down here!” Sungmin looked up to see the woman that was with Heechul beaming down at him, her hair was mussed from running and her cheeks were flushed from the combination of running and heat. Sungmin smiled back and waved to her, deciding he liked this Noona much better than that Heechul guy.
“Sungminnie!” swiftly, Sungmin was picked up off the ground and spun around in air by an overjoyed and relived Leeteuk. “Oh my goodness! I’m so glad we found you, I thought something bad was going to happen to you two, but here you are safe! I’m so glad I listened to Hangeng, she couldn’t find her little’s sister friend either so we paired up and searched for all three of you together. Oh my goodness, I’m so glad we did! I love you my little Minnie, I love you so much.” He rushed together and brought Sungmin down from the spinning into a vice like hug.
“Hyung, make sure you don’t hug Sungmin to death.” KangIn advised as he walked over to the two with Kyuhyun curled up in his father’s arms, peering out from under his bangs. KangIn let out a shaky laugh and cuddled Kyuhyun to him. “I’m not mad, I’m just glad you’re okay Kyuhyun.” He turned to Hangeng who was holding Ryewook hand in one and Kibum’s in the other. “Thank you. If you hadn’t offered to have us help each other, I think it might have been longer for us to find our kids.” Hangeng smiled and nodded, though when she noticed Heechul ogling at her hips her smile quickly disappeared and she bowed a goodbye before guiding the two girls up the stairs and left.
“Umma?” Sungmin looked up with puppy eyes at his Umma.
“Yes?”
“Can we get some ice cream now?” Leeteuk laughed brightly at his son’s biggest concern and ruffled his hair before everyone headed up to get ice cream.
