Bonsai!

Tried a new restaurant today for lunch!

Well today lunch was a big issue. First, i don't have any money and i was gonna go home for lunch, but then Jen decided she'd treat me to lunch today! So it's like 10:30 and we're trying to decide where to go. I'm picking so i start making a list of places so i can just randomly pick:

Venivici, Lotus Garden, Canton, Taisho, Bangkok Bangkok, Archie's, Quizno's, Subway and California Pizza Kitchen.

So we're stuck between Lotus and California Pizza Kitchen. So since there's a parking garage right behind CPK and LG we go ahead and park there and walk around the corner to get to CPK. When we get there, we see this new place across the street and since it was Thai and Sushi, we decided to head on over there and go to California Pizza Kitchen tomorrow. So the place is called Bonsai and it looks like a cute little restaurant from the outside. When you enter it's very chic. There's a little walkway that forms from the way the outside tables and planters are arranged. When you come into the restaurant, we were greeted and were sat next to the wall with this very nice bonsai planter behind me. The tables and chairs were black and each table has a set of soy sauce pots and dishes. I think those pots are the worst thing on the planet. You can't just get a little stream of soy sauce to come out and when you do, it just pours down the sides and onto the table/clothes. They really need to update those things or just provide you with the plain old soy sauce bottles every other restaurant uses or a variation. It's just a little irritating cause i'm a bit of a neat freak when it comes to eating and i can't stand those soy sauce rings on the table...

The drinks were good, we both had cokes and water, but the glasses were my favorite part! They were just HUGE. Usually i have a refill on coke and sometimes more than one, but i only had one coke during this lunch!

The music was pretty smooth lounge stuff and it wasn't too loud so talking was pretty easy. Although I could hear every conversation around me.

I noticed that to the right of the entrace is a stair case leading up to what seems to be a lounge area, but i didn't get to investigate much into that. I would've like to learn a little more about it and their happy hour, but through lunch i just forgot to ask about it to be honest...

Anyway, the menu is moderately priced. Anything Thai with chicken is around $8 and everything Japanese on the lunch menu is around $12. So Jen got something Thai and i got something Japanese and with the somewhat slow service AND a trip to the bank we managed to get back to the office at 12:50.

Overall a rather good place, however Jen says she likes the Thai from The Lotus Garden (directly across the street) better.
