I got back from my trip to the U.K. two days ago. I cried when the plane took off to go home because I loved it there so much. I saw London, York, and Oxford.
Cheese there is better. Scones are better. Tea is better. Talking is better because their Rs aren't such an ugly vowel (unlike our Rs). The Tube is ten times faster and more efficient than the Metro and cleaner than the NYC subways. Probably faster than the Chicago L, too, but I've only rode on that twice. Everything is prettier. Oxford boys are indeed prettier. And there are palaces. And I can argue that the weather was better for our trip; we only encountered two rain showers, which only lasted a few minutes each. It rained all week here, from what I've heard. Cars are cuter and more fuel efficient. Plowman's lunches are delicious. Museum's are better, and I love the D.C. museums so it takes a lot for me to say that. Flapjacks are better (they're not pancakes over there, but oat bars!). Cider is better. Buses are better because they have two stories.
The only thing we have that might be better are really good apples. I mean, their apples were fine, but the ones we liked the best we found out later were imported from the U.S.
Also, they don't celebrate Thanksgiving. I happen to think that's the best holiday.
But apples can be imported. And Thanksgiving is a meal that one could always postpone until the third Saturday of November. I'm sure they enjoy stuffing and cranberry sauce just as much.
...So why don't I live there again?
eta: I just realized how much I talked about food in this post. I'm really in love with food, I suppose.
