The events of the recent weeks had taken their toll on everyone involved. In addition to the political issues that still needed to be straightened out (and there were many), there was also the matter of Yuan added on top of everything else, and the effects of that were on a far more personal level. Anger, of course; concern, and most importantly, sadness. Emperor Peony seemed to be particularly affected, finding every excuse he could to escape from council meetings in order to receive updates on his friend's condition.
None of this had escaped Frings' notice-- it was impossible not to notice how stressed the Emperor of Malkuth was getting. The dark circles under his eyes were a dead giveaway. Frings had known the other man long enough to realize that he would simply keep on neglecting his own health if not reminded to take care of himself; he tried to gently urge the Emperor to get more rest, but to no avail.
He did, however, manage to persuade his friend to accompany him to the bar in Grand Chokmah just to get him out of the palace for a little while. The fresh air would do him good, and perhaps a couple of drinks would calm him down a bit.
Lorelei knew that Frings could use a drink himself.
