Its Showtime: Election 2008!

Nov 04, 2008 14:06

It is Election Day today. I have to say that I am both excited and actually proud to be an American today...something that has been hard to say these last long eight years. I am working a shorter then normal day today since I am flexing the time a bit.

The weather is absolutely beautiful. It is sunny and warm. It is like you can feel the change in the air. I am obviously an Obama supporter and it just feels like the eight long dark years of Bush's reign is coming to an end. I feel a future where Americans can travel the war and feel proud to be an American. They can go to nations and they will not be burning our flag. I feel like the end of the Patriot Act and the war in Iraq is within our grasp. I sense that we will see no American without healthcare and the turn back the human rights that the Bush administration has taken away. We can see the end where Americans have stained our ethic with torture. We will see the end of the NeoCons.

Beyond even that, it makes me proud that as an nation we may have our first African-American President. One of my heros, Dr. Martin Luther King had a dream this would happen, and it is a landmark event in our nations history. If Obama wins tonight, no African-American child will ever be told they can't be President. It shows if you work hard, you can do whatever you want. He speaks of inspiration and not of fear and danger. It is inspiration that takes a nation to great heights.

I have confidence tonight will truly be a special night and I will be able to drink to an America that I am truly proud of tonight at Chumleys:)
