I arrived here yesterday around noon, after 30 minutes of taxi-ing and the most turbulent flight I've had since our college Spring Break trip to FL. Unfortunately, mid-flight I realized that I really shouldn't do anything during flights except sleep or listen to music. Luckily, they serve ginger ale on flights. And they even gave me the whole can all to myself! That made up for the lack of crappy snacks.

(Sidenote: A question I've orated about at length lately - why are peanuts the traditional snack on airplane trips? I'm someone who discovered a mild peanut allergy in the past few years, and peanuts are probably the WORST food to feed people within a super-confined space. People with severe nut allergies can go into anaphylatic shock with just a WHIFF of peanut-y goodness. I'm only in trouble if I eat a fair amount of nuts. What I think they should do is take the route that China Airlines does - wasabi peas. Not only are they delicious, the spicy mustardy coating will also help stuffy noses.)

Anyway, since landing, pretty much all I've done is eat, shop, and nap. I've already been out for three meals, and last night I slept nearly twelve hours, having not slept at all the previous night. The shopping I've done has been almost entirely for holiday gifts for others, though, so it doesn't make me feel quite as bad. Oh, and I also read Jeffrey Steingarten's (aka the evil gray haired guy on Iron Chef) The Man Who Ate Everything, which I enjoyed, although I think I prefer his second book. Especially the chapter on turducken.

The weather here is nicer than up north - it was about 60 and sunny during the day - but not nearly nice enough to use the pool in the backyard, which has been calling my name since it was installed. When I was here in May for the cruise, I stayed at the house for only 2 nights, and only managed to skinny-dip at night once. It was lovely. I'm hoping that the weather reports of 79 by the end of my stay hold true, and that it doesn't get TOO cold at night those days. If so, ah well. That's what nice hot showers and baths are for. Did I mention this house has a square stall shower and a big bathtub? The master bath is very Cribs. I'm jealous. This house also has the most food I've seen in one place, way more than the house on Jenkintown Rd. ever had. Really. No nutcrackers, though. ;-)

Oh, and yes, I am indeed outrageously bored, and yes, I do love and much prefer the life I have created for myself back in Philadelphia. And I miss Molly like crazy, poor kitty. Why is no one on IM anymore??
