Hey, I saw Kanye West last Sunday! It was an awesome live show. The two opening acts (Keisha Cole and Fantasia) didn't thrill me so much - I thought Fantasia was going to pitch a fit, it was all very Tina Turner-esque. Kanye's set was AWESOME though - he had a string ensemble on stage, in addition to the DJ and backup singers, which was very cool, and he did everything I wanted to hear and OH so much more. He also brought out Patti LaBelle to do some funky portamentos at the end of "Roses". NYC got Jay-Z, we got Patti Labelle. It's all good. Really. Philly Pride.
I've realized recently that I need to stop living for the weekends when I get to leave my everyday life and have fun. What I really need to do, since moving and completely changing my life THAT way isn't so possible now, is make my everyday life completely fabulous since that's where I am most of the time. I need to focus on what I DO have in my life and what IS accessible and make it tremendous. More updates to follow in this trend. Going back to school being among those updates. I don't have any more excuses left.
Last night, while indulging in some recreational activity, we watched "Fat Albert". Maybe it was just the circumstances, but that movie is FUCKED UP. I don't recommend it. And why is Mushmouth constantly touching his nipples???? Laura's boyfriend Matt then decided to turn on one of those "Banned and Uncensored!" movies which show human suffering that they can't show on TV, which disgusted me so much. I kept saying, "Can we please turn something else on?" and Matt kept saying, "It's funny!" and Laura just ignored it. SO I said, "Ok, if you guys are going to keep watching this, I'm just going to go... I can't watch this," and finally they turned it off, amid Matt saying "You're such a baby!" I'm a baby because I don't think grotesque violence and people in agonizing pain is funny? Ok then, change my poopy diaper, bitch.
