Left 4 Dead = Gauntlet for the 21st century?
4 players co-op vs monsters in a maze-like environment. Lots of plebby monsters interspersed with the occasional special monster. Med packs replace food and there's no treasure. But then it does have the vs. and survivor modes, Gauntlet never did have PvP (beyond the elf nicking all the food and the "players shots now hurt other players" rule on some levels of Gauntlet 2.) Anyway, my point is forget "zombies" or FPS, Left 4 Dead is the new Gauntlet, a future classic.
