Got the results of my double-contrast upper GI examination today.   It turns out that I have a small Hiatal hernia, which is causing spontaneous gastroesophageal reflux into my distal esophagus.   Basically the upper part of my stomach protrudes into my diaphragm and causes acid and other things to back up into my esophagus.   Turns out that it is a pretty common thing, but most people my age don't have any real symptoms.   So mine is small, but enough to give me trouble.   I should be able to manage it without any kind of surgery with some lifestyle/diet changes and some medication.   Good news is that my stomach is in great shape, and my esophagus has not been damaged so far.

I'm glad we were able to find the cause of my problems, and that the cause isn't anything too severe (like cancer or something).
