This weekend will be the last break I get for the next several weeks, thanks to the fact that I'm performing in two musicals over the next three weekends with constant rehearsals in between. So, Monday through Thursday I have rehearsals every night. Friday through Sunday, I have performancees. Repeat.
Okay, I did this to myself, but I didn't exactly realize how everthing would pile up on top of each other.
The first production is The King and I. I hadn't been planning to participate in the show unless I landed a principal role. However, I signed Autumn up to be in the chorus, which did not require audition. When I received the call that I had a callback for the role of Lady Thiang, Autumn was super excited. She really wanted me to be in the show with her. So when I didn't get the part, I signed up to be in the chorus anyway. Tech week for the show starts Monday, and we have three performances during each of the next two weekends.
I am also going to be performing in The Mikado. Both shows are being produced through North Central College, and one audition covered both shows. (Actually three shows, but I wasn't interested in Singing in the Rain.) I'm just in the chorus for this one, but I really like Gilbert & Sullivan. And, this show is the only one of the three that is cast with adults only. I'm having more fun with this one. But the rehearsal schedule is very heavy at the end due to scheduling conflicts earlier on.
At least this is keeping me busy this summer. I almost won't know what to do with myself when it's all done.
