Yeah, I'm posting...something that hasn't happened in over a month now. I probably should post more often; in fact, I often open up the Update Journal page just to stare at it. Rarely, though, does anything get written; probably due to my general quietness. If I don't have anything worthwhile to write about...I'm just wasting words in doing so.
So what have I been doing? Well, a few things...I'll section them off because it seems like an intersting thing to do.
Computer Gaming
Haven't been playing as much America's Army as before, nor have I resumed playing through Planescape: Torment again. What I have been doing is starting some new games.
I downloaded for free, the original Starsiege Tribes (can't get ahold of the second one), and played that for a day or so. Then I updated my video card's drivers finally and was finally able to play Call of Duty and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Call of Duty is pretty darn cool...spent about twelve straigh hours playing it as soon as it started working, then I forced myself away so I could do other things (like sleep). Star Wars has been quite a bit of fun too, starting out as a Jedi was definately a plus. It took me a while, but I finally figured out how to saber duel...more than just button mashing at least. Oh...and Force Grip is so very very fun to use...I like using it and Force Push to knock my enemies off of very high places.
Oh yeah, one more game...I've been playing a lot of Lineage II recently. It's an MMORPG, and very similar to EverQuest I've heard. It's a pretty game, but with little depth really...so it amazes me how much fun I've been having playing it. Strange strange strange...
Work
Yeah, I'm at sea again...will be all of June. I might be able to get a couple weeks off at the start of July...actually there's a good chance of that. Then at the beginning of August I'll be pretty much out of the Navy. It makes me wonder what I'm going to do when I no longer get that paycheck. College? Sure...but I'm going to need a place to stay.
My Dad wants to get rid of my room and use it to put more "I'm really well-off" stuff in...and that's his right.
My Mom will welcome me back with open arms, but her house...while not small in a real sense, is so crowded with people and stuff...I'd really have nowhere to put my things. Not only that, but I feel...strange...thinking of moving back in with my parents when I'm going to be twenty-four years old. I could feasibly get my own place, but I'd have to get a job of course, and without any sort of degree, any job I might be able to get in this economy would be a pretty crappy one.
Friends down in Oregon already all moved in with each other years ago, and they've no room for me in their apartment.
I could stay up in Washington, instead of moving to Oregon, I've already got a place here, all I'd need is a job...like before. Only it wouldn't be so difficult making ends meet with three other roommates.
Also, some friends of mine all the way in Virginia have offered to let me stay at their place if I needed too...in fact, they eagerly try to convince me to move over there, if only because they claim I was the best D&D GM that they've ever had.
I'm not sure though, I'd like to move back to Oregon, because my friends and family are there, and my mother wants me to be able to help out my brother. It'd be nice if there was a really good option to take, but that isn't the way in life.
Hmmm...instead of calling that last section "work", I should have just called it "when I get out of the Navy".
Roleplaying
Yup, I'm still doing that. Not so much online...as I never seem to catch anyone anymore...but on the tabletop. I'm a participant in a Rifts game so overpowered that it seems less like roleplaying and more like strategy gaming. It's not great, but it's hardly awful. I'm also the GameMaster of a Planescape game with my roommates, something that I believe they are enjoying quite a bit. Any details I add on top of that would likely be confusing or boring, so I'll just leave it there. I am looking forward to going back to Oregon and being able to actually get involved in a long-term game for a change.
Anime
I never fail to have tonnes of the stuff, as many people know quite well. My roommate, brother, and I woke up another one of my roommates; we were laughing at Azumanga Daioh so loudly. I'm quite glad that
arianadream happaned to show the opening to Mark and I while we were visiting. That alone was enough catch my interest.
I'm eagerly awaiting Last Exile 4, it's proved to be a top shelf product, one that has not failed to inspire me at least once a disc.
I still have to catch the last of Someday's Dreamers and Chobits, both of which I brought with me this underway.
Having now seen the entirety of the Neon Genesis Evangelion Director's Cuts, I'm now in the mood to watch the entire series yet again...heck I'm even thinking of buying the remastered series when it comes out. That would make it four times I've bought the entire series... I'd also like to accurately recreate (with the super-expensive LMHG Bandai models) the final battle of Eva 02, with all nine of the Evangelion Mass Production Series.
Waaahhh...I want to get Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex and the soundtrack...grr...
Puni Puni Poemi is crazy, Weathering (Weathered?) Continent gives me good Lodoss-ish vibes (if only there were more!), Tokyo Godfathers is nothing but goodness, Haibane Renmei... *soft sigh* ...yes I like it, I'm thinking of buying .hack//Legend of the Twilight though I'd like to wait until I've beaten or played the video games, and Mahoromatic is quite nice if you don't mind the occassional (or occassionally more than occassional) nude female.
Oh yeah, there's a Ragnarok anime series coming out in Japan...consider it bought...well, as soon as it's liscensed.
Other Stuff
Well, I'm actually pretty tired right now, so I'll be heading off to bed. What? You say it's almost seven thirty in the morning? How do you think I killed time this watch? Oh yeah...I'll be going to the Penny Arcade Exposition (PAX) in August. There I will be competing in the Mario Kart tourney...wish me luck, I'll be bringing those blue sparks.
Yup...that's it.
