Hey Ho! Let's Go!
I've been so busy, I haven't poked my head in here for at least a week. I hope I haven't missed anything too important, but if I have, feel free to send me a PM. Here's what's been going on with me...
Reading: Hopefully I'll do a proper review later, but I finished The X:Files: The Truth is Out There the other day, a collection of original short stories featuring Mulder, Scully, and a few other familiar characters. It was a decent read, much better than the revival episodes, IMO. Now I've moved onto The Sandman, Volume 1: Preludes and Nocturnes. I got my eager hands on a fully recolored edition, and it is very pretty.
Writing: I've been stalled out working on my third chapter in my X-Files fic, mostly because: a) There is an autopsy scene, and I need to make Scully appropriately knowledgable, and b) Doing that research can be depressing as hell. It used to not bother me, but these days I take my forensic science in small doses.
Watching: Containment, mostly. It's a series about what would happen if there were an outbreak of a deadly virus in an urban area, and the stuff of my nightmares. I recommend it for an entertaining summer watch, as long as you're not easily triggered by fake blood and snot. I've also been trying to get into David Duchovny's new show Aquarius, but my attention wanders before the end of each episode, so I'm not sure how much longer I'll be sticking with it. (I'm on Ep. 7 of Season 1.)
Finally, please welcome desert_sage and silver_chipmunk to my friends list! I know some of us have been concerned about the ghost town LiveJournal has become, but hopefully there are still enough of us left around to have some interesting discussions. I'm looking forward to more interaction with all my LJ friends, both the beloved old and the shiny new!
