Happy Halloween

Call me biased but my niece is adorable.  Hawk, Dani, and Alia stopped by today for dinner.  She didn't have her costume on (actually she didn't have anything on) because she was a bit warm...and a bit cranky...but after dinner we managed to get her into her costume.  She was a pot of honey!  Or, I should say "hunny."  So cute.  Alas, she was a bit tired.  I appears she doesn't appreciate the end of daylight savings like some people (namely me). So it was waaaay past her bedtime when she came over.

Apparently, I now have to buy her a Cookie Monster.  I showed her my newly purchased Cookie Monster and she loved it.  He even talks.  Oh, how I love Cookie Monster.  I was in the mall Saturday and walked by the Build-a-Bear Workshop and saw that they finally got Cookie Monster in.  I had to get him.  When the store first opened a few years ago, they had Elmo (but I'm over Elmo) and I asked them if they would get Cookie Monster soon.  They said they did him a few years ago and they probably wouldn't bring him back.  I was devastated.  So of course when I saw him, I immediately got him, stuffed him, made a wish, rubbed it on my nose, and put it in his tummy.  I kinda feel sorry for the cashier.  I'm sure I gave him this look like "you, idiot."  You see, when I came up with my new toy on hand, he asked me what I was going to name him.  And I gave him the said look and replied, "uh...Cooooookie Monster?"  I was a bit caught off guard.  I wasn't sure if he was being facetious.  In hindsight, I'm sure he has to ask that question to everyone but I thought it would be obvious.  It's not like I'm going to name him Oscar.

And I have to now once again mention my love for the Ronald McDonald House.  Last night, I picked up a relief shift because the regular night manager wanted to go to the BB King concert (lucky!).  Well around 8 pm, I saw this adorable little girl playing hide and go see with the fish in the aquarium.  I talked to her a bit and she mentioned she wanted another sugar cookie.  She had one earlier and thought they were yummy.  I told her if her mom said it was ok, then should could have one.  She ran upstairs to ask her mom and she of course said yes.  I took the little girl and we sat at the little kids table in the dining room and each had a cookie and glass of ice water.  I let her have some of my candy corn (her favorite candy) and when she had one left, she split it in half so we could share.  She told me about her first grade class and how she learning to add and showed me how six plus four is ten.  And seven plus two is nine.  And seven plus three is ten because three is one more than two.  They're now learning how to do minuses which are bit tricky because she keeps wanted to add.  Oh, to be six again.  :o)
