OK! So here I am at UT Austin. WOW! LOL First things first.
The city of Austin is absolutely phenonmenal. The people here are all so skinny tho. Austin is rated like the #7 fittest city in the nation, and prob the only reason it didn't get #1 is cause of all the condensed transportation fumes and stuff. Like the girls here are all like ridiculously buff and toned and skinny which is a BIG change from Gtown LOL But, although it sux I have so much competition :-P, the guys here are all totally buff and toned and hott too so it all evens out LOL
Dobie, my dorm, is really cool. Unfortunately I'm not here too much because I attend all my classes and have band 10 hours a week. LOL Plus game days I'm NEVER here LOL My room mate is Liz and she's really nice so Potluck worked out pretty nicely :) Good News
My classes are all really hard, and recquire way more reading than I wanna do. LOL But I grit my teeth and do it because school is first priority. So half the time when my roommate, who's at Community College is out partying, I'm sitting here reading psychology or doing Integrating Calculus. Its the worst LOL But she never wakes me up late when she comes in an dI don't wake her up at 7 when I hafta go to class, so thank God for deep sleepers LOL
Band, is freaking awesome. I love College Band but then again I loved High School Band too and I think I'm pretty much alone in that boat. LOL I made the silk line, which is awesome because I didn't think I had too much of a chance in making it. Its really competitive and I've only done it for one year, but I attended the clinic and everything and tried my hardest :) Then only 3 freshman out of freaking like 25 made it, so its really exciting that I made it but at the same time, its really challenging to try to keep up with all the people that have been spinning together for a year or two. We had our first round of challenges Thursday, and I managed to keep my spot, which rocks because Wednesday night I practiced with my bud Chelsea, one of the other fishy silks, for like 2 and a half hours LOL After that practice, I would cry if I didn't make it. LOL We have 18 people on the silk line, and then only 16 spots so if you can't do the work or you suck or something than an Alternate is just WAITING for you to screw up so they can take your spot. LOL
Football games are amazing and I absolutely have loved the two I've gotten to march at but the first two shows are traditional, so I haven't done any silk stuff yet. Like, the Big Flags march with 9 foot poles and they don't really do any tosses or anything like that because there's only so much you can do with a 9 foot pole LOL Then the silks, like me, we have 6 foot poles and we do like the craziest tosses ever and routines and stuff like that. Its really fun but I am really trying my hardest to keep up. Everyone else has been spinning since like freshman or sophomore year of highschool, so I am kinda low in experience LOL But I did winterguard, which I think was a really good choice LOL Yeah, so football rocks!
Hunter and I broke up :( It was really hard for both of us, but just with the different atmosphere its really hard to meet new people of the opposite sex without the Significant Other getting jealous. It just put lots of pressure on ourfriendship, which is kinda like the foundation of any relationship. If that makes sense... LOL We are still best friends, which says alot about what an awesome guy he is because he still wants to be my best friend :-D We didn't get in a fight or anything, which is really great because if we had just stopped talking, I prob would have fallen apart. We've helped each other get through alot so its realy working out for us as just friends :) Yaaaay for my Best Friend :)
I really miss Gtown alot. I feel really out of place sometimes here in Austin. Everyone seems to mesh so well and I don't really know how well I do. I think Band has been awesome in that I have met lots of people, but at the same time, I haven't met many people on my floor which makes it hard to have friends in my dorm. I dunno, its definitely been really hard for me to adjust, but I'm trying to keep my chin up and keep working hard. I got my ears pierced August 19th, and they've been ridiculously infected since I came to Austin. They are like swollen and they like bleed and they puss...its really gross. Like my one ear got so swollen that the earing back popped off. It was like the size of a grape. LOL So I got some peroxide and now they're getting better but still... and then the atmosphere change made my acne go wild but its finally chilling out now. LOL Like, alot of things are just finally starting to get back to normal now. With school back in my sleep patterns are starting to adjust so I'm just hoping that if the trend continues, I'll be used to college life by like... January 20 LOL I just really miss Shell and Moo and my family and stuff.
