Happy Mother's Day

Sophie is almost a year old, her birthday is coming up so soon and I have no idea what we are going to do or where we are going to be. Rest assured once we figure it out we’ll let everyone know. I’ve spent so much time traveling in the last two months that I sometimes forget what a real bed feels like, and I’m not looking forward to giving it up again so soon. Thankfully, she is a wonderful traveler, plains, trains and automobiles are all good for her, and I do enjoy visiting with all the family, I just miss my sweetie back home a lot too.

I am often overwhelmed by the realization that she is no longer this tiny little 6lb bundle of joy, but now she’s a 22lb+ squirming and toddling bushel of Love. As of Monday at playgroup she took 6 steps, by Wednesday she could make it across the room, as of this weekend, she can walk when she remembers she doesn’t need to cling to my leg. I can’t even to begin to imagine how reality is going to change when she is completely independently mobile, but I imagine it will require at least one baby gate.

We’ve been to NERO three times already this season, with much support and encouragement from our friends, not the mention it wouldn’t have been possible without the best Auntie and Sister in the whole world. Oddly enough, despite being exhausted and recovering from NERO I somehow had a very busy social week, including going out late two evening sans bebe, which means nights out dancing will soon be a reality again as opposed to a pleasant memory. With any luck this socializing thing trend will continue and I’ll be able to catch up on seeing all the friends I’ve missed the last little while due to all the traveling.

After months of her sleeping on Australian time, this Monday she decided to start going to sleep around 9pm and sleeping til 6ish, up for an hour of so with Joel as he gets ready for work and then napping with me until playgroup around 10am. Other than staying up a little later last night, due to napping too long in the afternoon, she seems to finally be on some sort of normal schedule, here’s hoping it stays that way. The prospect of being able to have someone babysit her for a few hours in the evening so Joel and I can start dating again makes me deliriously happy. I love my baby girl, and I want to take her everywhere, but we are determined to make some time for ourselves so we’re not just ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’ all the time. Besides, dates with my sweetie are much fun :)

Mostly, there are no words to explain how perfectly wonderful and full of Love my world is right now. And what perpetually blows my mind is that it just keeps getting better every day.
