I decided last week to give Bones a try, since I know a bunch of people who love it and, you know, it seemed up my alley what with the crime-solving and the UST! And I AM actually loving the show (Bones! Booth! Hodgins! Angela! Sweets! Cam! Caroline! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), so this is really not a reflection on my general enjoyment of it, but I just got done

At this point I really can't tell anymore what the show was actually trying to say on the issue of his guilt or innocence, but, yes, Brennan managing to get him off scot free at the last second really, really bothered me, because not only did I find it wildly out of character (I don't think she ever truly stopped believing he was guilty, so she went against her better judgment) but the show really did appear to be saying, it's okay if your daddy murdered someone, as long he did it to protect you! Which, um, no. This is a show about how murder is never justified, and how taking someone else's life is an awful, presumptuous, unacceptable thing, and I think they should have stuck by that principle.
