I’s back!
Well…obviously.
It is most likely that this entry is going to be slightly long, so I’m going to be cutting ^-^
I didn’t come online last night because we didn’t get back until midnight, when we were supposed to be back 3 hours earlier.

Everything’s in order as best as I can remember!
Day One - Friday:
The flight over went fine. Mam’s afraid of flying so I thought it’d be a bit long, but she was okay. So that was good.
We were fed, which is always nice :p We had this weird tomato chicken stuff that was actually nice.
We landed around 6ish and when we were in the coach on our way to the hotel (which took about an hour and a half) we passed mount Vesuvius. It’s very nice, it is! There was a tour trip thing that took you all the way up to the crater, and if I could have I would have dragged mam there.
Our room was okay. Not great for a 4*+, but okay. The bathroom was almost the size of the freaking bedroom. That was nice too.
It was very warm. Me no good in heat.
Day Two:
We got up at 8am, and seen as though it was nice and light we opened our window/balcony door shutters (called blinds by the hoteliers, but they were shutters. No other way to put it) so we could check out our view!
Our view was of a school. Yep. No nice sea. No nice country. A school. With lots of little kids :p We got used to it though, so no problems.
We had a 10am meeting at an american club with our rep, Linda, who then took us on a little tour of the area. About 6 people showed up for that. Real interest people showed in that.
We organised our trips.
Pompeii
Amalfi Drive
Herculaneum
We didn’t really do much wandering before Monday except the areas that mam remembered going to when she was a teenager.
It was pretty dull to be honest! But I was expecting it.
We couldn’t go into a shop that sold the lemon cello stuff without a glass of it being handed to us. 17% stuff, and they would not take no for an answer!
I think it’s safe to say that we drank lots!
Day Four - Monday:
The weather was absolutely evil! The sun wanted to roast me. Honestly.
They say, if you look out over the bay to the other side, and can see the volcano, then it is going to be a very hot day, and if the land and its mountain is covered in cloud and fog, it’s going to be an okay day. Both ended up being the former. It was always bloody hot. Even during the night ^^;
On our way to Pompeii we were told by the tour guide that the Vesuvius eruption in 79AD was what followed an earthquake in 62AD, and it’s unknown when the volcano will erupt again. But our rep told us that it’s due to erupt some time next year.
Though even if that happens Naples apparently have an amazing early warning system and an emergency plan to get everyone (and the idiots living on the volcano) away in time.
Pompeii was absolutely packed. It’s a big enough place to hold a lot of people, but I wasn’t expecting there to be thousands of people there.
After about 90 minutes of wandering we went into a roman brothel (which everybody thought was funny) and we were coming out of what I assume used to be a back door, and with 4 other guides with their tours there at the same time, there was a lot of pushing and hitting.
And mam fell.
The guide had to get the medic, who ended up calling an ambulance.
I rode up front with the driver, who said my biohazard hand tattoo was beautiful…
Italian hospitals are not fun.
And Italian doctors are even worse.
Nobody there spoke any English apart from ‘I don’t speak English’. How convenient, huh?
Mam was taken for an x-ray, and we were left in a corridor for about 2 hours. My feet were killing me from standing around for hours, and I’d been on my feet since 9am. By this time it was about 4pm.
A porter (yes, a porter) came and bandaged mam’s leg, and we were given a hospital form, all written in Italian, but on the second page was something like ‘non evidenti fracture’, which even I could understand. But we were again left, and about half an hour later we were stuck out by the ambulance bay and abandoned.
I was so knackered I just ended up sitting on the floor messing with the games on my mobile.
The hotel organised a taxi which cost us 60euros.
We ended up ordering room service as mam couldn’t walk. We got drinks each, and I had a cheesy pizza and mam had this chicken and mushroom thing. That cost over 40euros.
Linda then made sure that we could get our future breakfasts and dinner meals that we had paid for in the holiday package brought up to our room for free.
Day Five:
Today we found out that mam had to keep off her foot for ten days, so from this moment on our holiday plans were pretty much fucked.
We were stuck in the hotel, and it was very hot. Around 30degrees during the day and up to 20 during the night.
Day Seven - Thursday:
The Italian hospitals don’t provide crutches. Of any kind. So if you break your leg, afterwards you have to hobble to a pharmacy or chemist and actually buy your own.
Today Linda managed to get some, which really helped mam around. But we were well sick by this time.
Before we went away my mp3 player died on me, so I had no music, no ds, and I didn’t even have a freaking notebook to write or doodle in!
I think I went out and actually bought the only notebook in the whole of Italy! But it’s leather-bound so I don’t even want to use it!
We also had air conditioning in our room. But could we hell get it to work?!
When the concierge came to check on us (for like the 50th time) we asked about it, and all they did was close a window and it came on! The bastards. We knew how to use it, but nothing we did worked. We had talked to Linda about it and we think she may have talked to the people downstairs about it and that’s why it suddenly came on…But it went off after an hour, and we couldn’t get it to work again afterwards.
Day Eight:
Surprisingly Thursday went very fast, and we were allowed a late check out. 12noon instead of 10am. The hotel had ordered another taxi from a private firm for us to go to the airport an hour before the coach with all the other guests leaving on the same flight. That cost us 95euros (about £65). But that was made by a deal with the hotel. The driver had the meter running during the ride, and it came to 150euros, so we were a little relieved about that.
Mam and I had 800euros each! And we’ve both come home with 400euros each. We bought hardly anything. Aside from my book, I bought some of the lemon cello stuff (by the by, I have no idea if that’s spelled right) and a hat. I only bought the hat because my sunglasses were shit, and it was so hot.
Mam bought a couple of pairs of fly flots sandals, a leather bag and purse. All the other money that went was spent on food, and taxis and crap.
The flight back was probably the best part of the holiday! We had a lot of turbulence (I know, I’m sadistic) and we flew over lightning storms. That was fun.
We landed an hour later than planned, and we didn’t get back until midnight. And I’d never been so happy to see our lovely british weather in my life!
~*~
With the money left over, both mam and I have decided to buy ourselves a new bed each.
During the whole time I took the great amount of about 10 pictures ;-; I will sort them out later and post a few in a new entry.
There's a lot I haven't included. Be happy. This would be one hell of an entry if I'd written down everything!
All in all, about £2000 for a 2 day holiday.
And now I’m done, because I’m sick of typing.
Note: I started this yesterday, so if something doesn't make sense it's probably because I haven't changed the right things to make up for finishing it today.
