So yesterday I had my second interview for the potential new job. I had turned in my assigned project on Sunday night and was pretty confident that I had done well.
I got there and the original lady who had interviewed me (who would be my boss if I were hired) greeted me and was very friendly, like we were old (though professional) pals. We went upstairs and the other interviewer (the CIO) was not yet ready. The lady and I went to a small conference room and she invited me to sit down. We small talked for a minute, and she told me that she had been very impressed with my project. I did not pick up on every detail, but she said that wasn’t the point and I hadn’t been expected to. I did, however, incorporate details from our first interview, and she said that impressed her. Cool.
So “Bob” comes in and sits down. He is very casually dressed, seems like a really nice guy. He asks me questions about previous jobs… which ones were organized, which ones weren’t. How sociology transitioned me into corporate training and instructional design. Why I’m wanting to leave the financial industry. Then, he unexplicably asks me about my opinion of the real estate market in Gainesville. (?!?) I told him that I think it’s really high priced, but that I’m not entirely familiar with long term trends, since I only recently became concerned with such things. (When I moved to town, I was primarily thinking about finishing my Master’s degree.) Strange question.
Anyway, then he says he has no more questions, and asks if I’m familiar with their benefits package.
*ears perk up*
Good sign, no? We talked for another five minutes about their benefits, corporate culture, etc. They gave me an employee handbook, a new hire welcome book, etc. Told me they have one more interview on Thursday and that they’ll call me toward the end of this week, first of next to let me know something.
Hmm.
