Solitary Pizza Consumption and Other Such Topics

I can't explain why, but I find this quote so obnoxious. It was uttered by some random ass woman on one of those insipid Travel Channel specials, this one focused just on pizza. "...you don't eat pizza alone." Wow....
Anyway, Snowpocalypse looks to be a wee bit of a bust for Muncie. I expected a lot worse. My view of inclement weather is that if it's gonna come, I want enough of it to shut stuff the fuck down. Otherwise it's just me spending half an hour scraping off my car and another half hour driving and walking to work through an icy mix of crap. Then repeat when it's time to go home. It's possible we'll get enough that my boss will at least give me the option of staying home should the university stay open. I did brave the elements today and got a couple hours in, and got a lot done, so that helps.
Speaking of, WTF Muncie, why did you wait until almost 8:00 before plowing McGalliard and Tillotson?!?! And then you were only plowing one side of the road... the side I was not driving on. Changing lanes damn near made me crash! There had been no precipitation for hours at that point, so why the fucking delay??
ANYWAY....I know it's sick to hope for bad weather, but fuck it I miss getting snow days! That would have been one benefit of going the teacher route with my career... except I'm horrible at showing people how to do anything except by demonstrating it myself. And the very thought of doing the amount of work teachers put in just to make their day happen makes me want to take a nap. Nah, give me a quiet office, a pile of data entry to do, a Mountain Dew, and I'm a fucking happy camper.
I just saw a commercial that was equally promoting both Taylor Swift and Comcast. Decide what you're promoting, commercial! I am so conflicted when it comes to Taylor Swift. Like I enjoy the majority of her songs...or her many interpretations of her one song... whatever. I like that shit despite myself. But the whole image she perpetuates and the personality... just... ick. I have to remind myself that at least she's not glorified white trash like Miley Cyrus, but still.... she has got to lighten up. Still, had she been around when I was in middle school during my hardcore country fangirl days, she would have absolutely blown my fucking mind. Seriously, if she and High School Musical had come out ten years earlier I would have very different opinions about both those phenomena. I was craving shit like that back then.

I'm watching RuPaul's Drag Race right now and good lord, I love it so much. It's everything America's Next Top Model could have been but isn't. I like how self aware it is. It embraces the camp and the personalities of its unique contestants. Also, it's not promising long lasting careers or fame. The prize is cash, makeup, and to do some promotion for vodka. Everything a drag queen would want really. The casting is GOLD. Whereas the crazy bitches on ANTM are annoying as hell, these bitches are fucking HILARIOUS and deliver the best one-liners ever. I really need to start writing them down... I'm also impressed by all the recognizable names they get to judge. Like Vanessa Williams and Lily Tomlin. Tyra may get legit fashion people to judge, but RuPaul gets fun people who I actually know. Also, there's random male models walking around in naught but shiny underwear. So there's that.
I'm tempted to ramble about Idol too, but I think that deserves its own post.
