Left a place I liked, because it was getting really tiresome. There's this influx of trolls and idiots that I'm not so fond of, so I figured I'd best be off. They can squabble amongst themselves.
Unfortunately, it was the only place I found with Doctor Who discussion, so I'm a little stuck. The Whoniverse on LJ is so insanely compartmentalised. Even Dreamwidth has started in haste with multiple Whoniverse communities, whilst the Boosh just has the one for almost the whole six degrees of separation. One which has no entries, naturally, as most Dreamwidth names and communities are simply placeholders.
(I laugh a bit at the huge reaction of "yay", when I see very little activity over there.)
There's a certain type of person who's flocking to DW, and I'm not sure that I'm too unhappy to see the back of them. I mean, who needs the kind of reactionary who's going to be wailing about DW policy later on? They may be twitterpated by the fancy new platform now, but eventually it will get old and they'll take it for granted.
(And, if there are problems, the cynic in me truly believes Dreamwidth will go "but we gave you those style editing capabilities that one time".)

Utterly gratuitous Matt Berry icon. I unearthed the place where people found those fantastic Darkplace icons, but now wonder why no one else has made them. Is it the lack of a region-free DVD?
Ooh, and I'm really just doing this for the lovely Last FM idea. Automagically filling in my music? Nifty.

My story ideas are getting obliterated. I've forgotten how the idea was supposed to work for the "look at those two freaks, why not us" story. But then I watched a bit of the special features and sort of partway remembered.
The background two have such a cute chemistry together IRL that it does seem a shame to not take that and run with it. I mean, their characters here clearly influenced their other characters (and there's something innocent yet disturbing about the characters' relationship, which... kind of is how the Boosh works in series 3).
As for the usual two, it feels a lot more like an RPF lecture, so I'm not sure how to go about that.
In fact, is there any post series 3 fic that isn't this cry of "happy happy nicey"? I like the myriad ways in which they get broken and put back together again, but... well... it is a little strange that there's nothing that doesn't feel like Author On Board.
It's not as if Series 1 was all sunshine and rainbows. There was the popstar thing, Charlie, and a few others.
But it's more about universe size, I think, and no one's yet fixed that. I mean series 1, while stuck in a zoo, had way more interesting stories than series 3. There were more new characters, out of necessity. Series 3 has the shaman council popping up regularly, the Hitcher, an entire episode without leaving the shop except for a musical number. It's kind of ridiculous.
"Come with us on a journey through time and space... to a secondhand shop in London and the surrounding alleyways, plus a few nightclubs every so often. Oh, and a random wood. Not a magic wood, just the regular kind. But there's some nice foliage to be seen."
Slash addresses it, but doesn't really fix it. I mean, turning it into a literal husband/wife scenario isn't going to fix the fact that they have become the metaphorical husband/wife. It'll take the edge off for a while, because it's new, but... there's always a feeling that by the end of the week they'll be bitching at each other again.
Anyways, it's early morning, so that probably made no sense. Off to shower.
