Community recs?

Aug 30, 2005 18:50

Now that I've gotten a better handle on Sasuke, and I'm completely caught up with the manga and fear no spoilers, I need a bit of high quality ficcage to whet my inspiration. I've got a list of recs by Askerian *beams* and I have other rec sites to go through too...but there's nothing like finding that first chapter of a great fic yourself, and ( Read more... )

I don`t know of any myself, and would dearly like to know if you find out...kebzero might however. I only suggest because I know he`s written at least one Naruto fic and has mentioned reading from the fandom.

It's rather ominous, the lack of 'Hey, Mal, here's this great SasuNaru community' posts to this message...It sounds like all the sites people know are like the ones I found: mainly spamfests for RPs and tweenies complaining that their favorite character (Sasuke) doesn't get enough lurv!!1!

If I find any good ones, I'll probably rec them, just to spread the word :P I'm terribly, horribly shy about mailing people I never contacted before, but if I work up the nerve, I'll check with Kebzero :)

*grins* I noticed that!

I checked out the sasuxnaru community but found it seems to mostly be fanart and icons...a little thin on the fic side. As for emailing people you've never contacted, I'm the same way...you have a bit of a foot in the door though, you're a big name in the Gundam Wing fandom. *snickers* If I asked, they'd be like Petenshi who? (plus it doesn't help I somehow ended up writing under two different names)

I'm not sure whether or not this would be up your alley, but a friend of mine is writing an afuckingmazing fanfic, and I thought I'd rec it. ^_^
It's kind of a gen-fic with only little bitty bits of romance. Located at tombee_en_panne. If you're interested, just look at the user info.
Hope you enjoy!

Not an lj community, but there's a HUGE fanfiction site called aff.net

Some of the things in there are kinda scary, but it's well organized and once you get past the creepy banners there be some quality literature! ^_^

That's a thought. I've been on that site a lot, and I used to post there. Unfortunately, Aff.net, a bit like ff.net, has a high ratio of crap to it. There's the usual gems burried in there, but maaaaan *rolls eyes* Oh well, one must suffer to retreive good ficcage! *strikes a Gai pose*

Haha, indeed.

And you can't just go by the descriptions, either. Some really *good* fic authors are also really *lazy*, and skimp out on the descrip!

Most of the really great writers are on Project Greenlight, but my best bet has always been to go to the better writers' homepages (usually FFN) and check their favorites, because quality recognizes quality and all that.
