Original fiction: Outlands - 'Family, Friends, Sons and Lovers' part 1

A busy two weeks on the writing front (actually, every front). I've finished the next arc - it's fairly short, only three chapters - and I'm working on the one after that. This is Mal, still having fun ^_^ This single standalone chapter is almost as long as the arc, ironically. But whereas arcs advance the storyline, these chapters are mainly for ( Read more... )

*__*

"I know two things, Lord Ghan," Peistrasos answered ponderously as he brought over the jug of beer and a small silver sieve to filter it into a cup. "One, is that it is hot, and the other is that if your skin is soft, then I'm the Queen of Kush." Peistrasos was a servant, not a slave, a burly old ex-soldier with a limp, terrible scars down one arm, three missing fingers, and a certain lack of servility in his manner.
*gigglesnort* I hope we'll see him more later.

I'm interested in Leyam's wife (duh, I bet Leyam keeps her because she keeps him on his toes XD), and Nicodeme and Rand's scene was so BWEEcute. Also yay for all those little superstitions and civilization things. Shiny~

I think Peistrasos is only going to be popping in and out as cameos. There's too many characters in this fic already :P Glad you liked it!

I have to say that I quite like Vibiana, actually, and I think Leyam does, too, in some twisted sort of way. Or at least he finds her stimulating, right?
I love this tale, and I´m so glad to know that you are not done with it yet! :)

That's pretty much why he keeps her around, yes. That and he doesn't trust her out of his sight.

Not done by a long shot, as long as my inspiration holds out!

Hmm, though Vibiana could indeed have future roles to play, I do not have any intention as of now to write them. I'm having a hard enough time writing the scenes with the main charactres ^^; It's a pity, she would be an interesting character to develop, and certainly not someone Leyam would ever let wander around without close personal supervision. He's not dumb enough to let her run back to her powerbase in Helias, that's for sure.

It's true these intermediate chapters are more on background...but I'm sure the next part fulfilled some of that yen for more personal interaction ^__^ A good dose of 'Monogamy 101' would do that...

I get the notion that Leyam adheres to the old saying, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Yup, indeed. That and there's a certain love-hate relationship going on in this marriage; whatever else she may be, Vibiana is not boring.

"The silence that followed that invocation was interrupted by a peacock venting its irritation at something."

Way to be a mood-killer, peacock.

Can't wait for the next part to be posted! I like being bludgeoned with all this Assyria stuff ;

Lol, that's good you like the pseudo-history! Though the next part is more close-up and personal. Veeery personal.
