Ofic: Out, part 23

Aug 09, 2009 16:01

Next chapter. I'm struggling a little bit with some of the upcoming chapters after this arc, but only a little bit - mainly trying to get all my ideas and plots in a row, which is like herding cats at the best of times - and man, am I still having lots of fun. I hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy writing it!

I like how darius talks, a mix of "the stars are on our side" and using legends as facts in a kind of poetic way, and some rather crude turns of phrase. XD

Darius grumbled another acerbic 'pretty' under his breath and gave a nearby slope of flower-strewn rocks a belittling glance.
... hahahaha SO CUTE.

Priests called the Aksosot and the Taibor the two hearts of Assyria (the Hounds and other soldiers called them the Two Tits,
... *is twelve, because that's hilarious*

The houses were very close together and colonized the slope with the disorder of a termite mound.
Love that visual.

Since then, Blessed Hygiea's had Her hand over our heads, and Namtar had to go plague somebody else ( ... )

Oh. My. God.

Y'know, that "Bitch King" reference really hadn't escaped me, but uh.. yeah, this what *not* what I was expecting. Hi-larious! I'm very curious as to what exact purpose that whole act has, however. I'm quite sure there's more to it than simple eccentricity (though I'm not ruling out eccentricity as part of the reason~).

"Sounds good," Ryou answered, because 'Oh thank god' would have sounded a little pathetic.
Poor Ryou, he's so cute and out of place. Really really looking forward to his real meeting with Leyam. <3

The description of Sura was pretty much on the money, in my opinion. Just enough for a strong mental image, but not so much that my mind starting wandering. As always, you rock.

Sooo...is it next week yet? ^-^

The method behind Leyam's madness will be explored in two chapters. First we get to see the man behind the makeup. Eccentricity is definitely part of it, though. It'd have to be, right?

Whew, most people seemed happy with the description. It's hard to judge when I write and reread it myself; I didn't want it too hasty or too boring.

Next week is coming soon! As soon as next Sunday, as a matter of fact! *is evil*

Well I nearly chocked with hilarity when you mentioned Assyrian Rocky Horror extra. THat's so exactly IT! And yet seeing it written down looks so very, very wrong! Now I see Leyam prancing around singing 'Transylvanian Transvestite'. Oh dear, there goes the Assyrian court ( ... )

I definitely had "Sweet Transvestite" playing in my head when he flounced out of the court with his entourage; I think it made it that much more epic :)

I like the way your brain works, it throws some quite interesting tail-spins into the story. And the way Leyam turns out does make sense when you put it into the context of not have continuous "big-bad-hairy-and-manly" types walking around. The fact that he has an inspiring back story is fantastic and I can't wait to read it, but it was definitely worth having him in the story if only for the throne room scene and having Ryou's and the readers' minds implode.

The richness of the descriptions only serves to make the weight of dread--of the fragility of Ryou's life within this very alien environment--heavier. It is somewhat of a relief that Darius trusts Leyam not to squash the awkward outsider.

Love the hanging gardens.

Darius certainly trusts Leyam. But he's Leyam's little brother. Just how unbiased can his judgment be...? Glad you liked the descriptions!

I suspect Murphy's Law, but it's subject to further research and analysis by the application of multiple toast tossing to see if the butter side comes down more than 50% of the time.

Glad you liked Leyam ^__^ It was a bit of a gamble, making him that weird, but I'm glad he's tickled the readers' fancies!

The other crazymaking thing is that I'm a costume designer by training, and *dammit I want to get my hands on scads of green silk and MAKE THAT for someone.*

If I could draw, I would be ALL over doing a design-rendering of it, but my design-renderings were "lots and lots of elaborately detailed folds and pleats and here's-where-the-seams-go with five or six fabric swatches stapled to them," and then basically stick figure heads on account of how spectacularly I fail at faces and hands. But I can render drapery allllll week long. ....if I had TIME, that is. *headdesks more*

I don't know if it will help the itch or make it worse, but someone else in these comments drew Leyam in his Bitchwear :P It would make one hell of a party dress for a woman! It'd make one hell of a party dress for a guy, but probably more a halloween party unless he was into the drag scene.
