Here's the before-last bit of DR, a small sidestory again. I'm still waaaaaay behind on answering reviews, sorry, but I do love them all ^_^

OMFG. Burst out laughing a number of times in this one, and startled the dogs each time, too. Kakashi's dry humor against Gai in the background (with Lee, starry-eyed), OMG, seen through Kankuro's exhausted, tired, worried (but not entirely wanting to admit that last part) POV... absolutely priceless. And getting to see Kakashi surprised? Now that's one for the record books...!

Yay, I managed to startle the dogs by proxy ^_^

Kankuro's exhausted, tired, worried (but not entirely wanting to admit that last part) POV

Yeah, I like guys who are all crusty on the outside but chewy-sweet on the inside. Of course he's worried about his friend and his brother, but he's a guy, a tough Shinobi, so 'act tough' :)

Kakashi lifted his head from his book, looked at Gaara and then glanced over at Kankuro.

"I'm a bit surprised now," he offered helpfully.

Kakashi KILLS me. XD

I love poor Kankuro's worry, and I really love that we get to see Lee meet Gai. I would have been sad if it had ended on the previous chapter's note; it was pretty grim and serious and had definite undertones of unhappy-for-choosing-between-Gai-and-Gaara-Lee ;_;

Gaara is definitely in love. Why else would he voluntarily suffer through one of Gai's speeches? XD (and now I'm getting a bunny about Gaara changing so much during the timeskip because he was, for some reason, perpetually around Gai, and Gai decided to teach him how to be human and stuff. There would be a few delicious issues with the chuunin exam incidents... mrrrr. XD)

Very true. Plus, I think he understands that Gai is responsible for a lot of Lee's character, and that understanding the one can help understand the other. Although I think he may need a few years of night studying and a primer to understand Gai...

*whistles innocently and feeds the bunnies steroids* I've had thoughts along those lines too. A sort of genfic where a post-Chuunin exam but pre-Kazekage Gaara opts to do some missions with his allies, and inserts himself into Team Gai because the Gai-Lee interaction had intrigued him and made him a bit envious...

That was so awesome...poor Kankuro it seems he's always stuck with the dirty work. First talking to Gaara about sex and then being around Gai-sensai to listen to his lecture about the springtime of youth and love.

"he was praying to the Gods of their barren desert home that whatever was in that room wasn't contagious and that his Kazekage wasn't going to go all round-eyed and start talking about the Springtime of Love."

I love this quote. It would signal the beginning of the Apocolypse if Gaara started mirroring Lee and Gai-sensai in exuberence. And what's this I hear about another GaaraLee fanfic. That is so freaking awesome. More stories about Gaara and Lee and their wacky relationship. I can't wait to read it...if reading DR has shown me anything it has shown me that you are an awesome writer and I will always love your stories...it was actually Big Heart, Drunken Fist that first made me start reading GaaraLee pairings...anyway let me finish ranting and I will be waiting patiently for this new story of yours. ^.^

And damn weird to boot ^^; I don't think Gaara is at risk, so we're not nearing the end of the world quite yet. Glad you liked the fic! (fics, apparently ^_^)

dear god, that's good stuff. Lee's so subtle, ain't he? and poor kankuro, can't handle too much at 4 in the morning. especially not something of Gai-caliber.
Looking forward to the new fic! ^_^ Thank you for writing!

It is ALWAYS too early in the morning for Gai-calibre speeches about the Springtime of Love. At 11:59 PM, it is still too early in the morning for Gai-calibre speeches about the Springtime of Love. :-)

LOL!! Too true, too true...Well, except if you're Lee. Gai-speeches are to Lee like spinach is to Popeye.

Lee's as subtle as a hammer, and he's got a heart of gold. Two things that are probably necessary when dealing with his favorite beautiful damaged creature. Hell, a good dose of Gai and his speeches might do wonders for Gaara :P (Or not...*has headache imagining it*)
